W?W: Making sense where once there was none
Thank you, Bobby and Lindsay, for helping me to figure who the Hell my 96 year-old, daytime talk watching, DWTS-loving, grandma is ranting about at any given moment. We thought her demented for a while, until we realized her ravings were related to the whos featured on her normal viewing schedule. (If Kardashian doesn't sound like the name of a made-up villain who haunts your dreams, I'm quitting show business.) I think most interesting is how porous the borders between whodom and themdom are. As is the notion of racial and national differences in who/them classification. If I wanted to get really crazy, I think there's an argument to be made about whodom's mass appeal as an imagined community of celebrity (a la Benedict Anderson). Regardless, great podcast. Keep it up!Read full review »
