great podcast
I'm a beer guy who was (at least temporarilly) converted to a french wine nerd after a two week honeymoon to France. I realized that I finally knew where all those indecipherable French wine bottles came from, but I still had no idea what grapes were used or how I could find similar domestic wines. I started listening to this great podcast, and now I actually enjoy going through a restaurant's wine list and can order intelligently no matter where the wine comes from. I went from thinking "I don't really like white wine" (turns out I just don't like over-oaked Chardonnay) to "hmm, should I have the Savignon Blanc from Marlborough or the Vouvray with this...." The podcast does a good job of presenting lots of useful information on a complex topic without being insufferably snobbish or filled with high-level b-s that only folks with thousands of dollars to spend filling thier wine cellars could possibly care about. If you want to learn everything you need to know to pick out great wines from all over the world that you'll really like in the $10-30 price range, this is the podcast to get.Read full review »
