Thank you!
Thank you so much for this episode! It was wonderful to hear Angelica’s experiences in both the dance and yoga worlds. I too started out in dance before eventually fin dining my yoga practice, but did not fit the ballerina image who wanted to make it in the NYC ballet arena. I had a very large chest and not one leotard was ever made for my body type. I felt so uncomfortable in my own skin that I eventually had a breast reduction to fit the mold of what I should look like. Now as a mom of a 14-year old girl athlete with a big chest, I see the same biases being put on her. Some of the moms comment about her chest size on the sidelines and I really have to shut it down and communicate that their bias is so damaging to a young teen. It is astonishing that these adults are unaware of their biases since these are the same people who are for women’s equality in athletic pay, but yet are smashing those very girls with their own bias. I agree with Angelica that companies are now starting to provide athletic clothing for different shapes and I too have found that Athleta is kind of leading the way in providing sports bras for all shapes. I want my daughter to be happy with her body. So thank you both so much for diving into so many issues that affect so many 🙏🌟. I so appreciate it 😊.
