07/03/24 Fitness for perimenopause
I kept waiting for the guest to mention protecting your pelvic floor in exercise, especially as she was suggesting we lift heavy weights and do high impact exercises (explosive jumps for goodness sake!). She didn’t mention it once. This is really irresponsible. The pelvic floor naturally weakens during perimenopause and many women have prolapse issues due to childbirth. This obviously won’t apply to all women but to not even mention it as a potential concern was a mistake and could set some women up for future incontinence issues. This type of exercise is not suitable for many women - please suggest some alternatives.
