This Review Did It
True crime can be a slippery genre, both in terms of quality and in terms of the moral consequences associated with it. True crime parody, while having less potential to gross out listeners and viewers with its use of titlization of actual horrendous events, can similarly just feel off or misconstrued based on how it treats the nature of crime and criminal acts. But Arden gets it right completely. The characters are what make it funny, not the horrible crimes the characters are investigating. The crimes they take seriously and are passionate about, and when it comes to solving them is where the characters actually begin to work together. Which is remarkable, because otherwise these characters are butting heads in consistently amusing fashion. Funny, well acted, and well designed, this is an audio drama you don't want to miss.Read full review »

I love the story, the music, and acting. But. The volume is a killer! It goes from loud to quiet to variable from the actors screaming or yelling that I can’t imagine a person listening to it with earphones. I’m listening in the car and with a Bluetooth speaker and it’s difficult!

I couldn’t find these two arguing over and over anything other than annoying. But maybe that’s the point. I don’t know. This one just isn’t for me.

I enjoyed the dynamic between Brenda and Bea and thought the case was interesting. But the Andy Wheyface stuff got to be way too over the top and distracting as the season went on.
