Makes me read things I thought I never wanted to read
I love the rambling nature of Backlisted; although the discussion is always centred around a single book, the digressions, other references, random thoughts etc feel like a genuinely reflection of the way I, and I'd guess many others, think about and relate to books and reading. The team spends time in leisurely discussion, which I find unusual for a book related programme, which can often feel rushed and cursory in nature. Most of all I really enjoy the way that Backlisted not only introduces me to books I didn't know, or not well, but also gets me rethinking my attitude towards some books and authors I'd previously rejected as utterly not for me. A good example being the Beyond Black episode - I now really really want to read this. Before I thought 'Nah'. Consistently, enjoyable, nourishing listening.Read full review »
