I’ve bored everyone who won’t walk away about this podcast, it’s just wonderful for film fans who love learning about the history of film, as well as gaining great insight from three perceptive film buffs. They’re so packed with detail that I’ve re-listened multiple times, though it never gets...Read full review »

I’m in love with this podcast, despite not having seen most of these films. I love the history and detail they go into. And they make it very fun. Highly recommend

Possibly my favorite group of hosts to listen to. Their preparation for each show is impeccable and I always come away feeling like I learned something about films or the movie industry.

I’ve listened to quite a few of these episodes and every one of them spends far more time talking about random topics or other films than they do talking about the subject of the podcast. You end up with maybe 20-30 minutes of what you’re looking for based on the title with a ton of filler. ...Read full review »

An absolute must for film fans. I love the scene setting and context for each film/year; the research for each episode must have been enormous. I couldn’t disagree more with some previous reviews claiming that all three presenters share the same opinions, that’s very clearly not the case. They...Read full review »

I absolutely love the content of this podcast. Not just an analysis of the best picture winner of a certain year, but the story of the year in film. The other contenders, stories from the ceremony, developments in movie making and technology, all manner of fascinating trivia. However… You would...Read full review »

Tom, Jess and John, You may envision this podcast as a kind of personal passion project; a place where film enthusiasts come together to gaze and marvel at all of the little details that contribute to the magic of cinema. But, for me, this podcast was something more than this: you were my...Read full review »

Honestly it’s great. Amiable, chatty, conversational, interesting. Lots of film facts and an incentive to watch all the best movie picks as well. Love it. Strongly recommend.

The premise for this podcast is what drew me in, as I’d started my own “watch all best picture winners” a few years ago. I didn’t particularly warm to the hosts, who I found to have quite a high opinion of their own opinions. Even though I almost always agree with their takes, the...Read full review »

Great podcast series sadly bookended by two Russell Crowe hatchet jobs.Makes me wanna watch the films they hate rather than the ones they love.I’d like to see them do the box office No.1’s,some people watch films and others watch ‘film’.

This fortnightly podcast reviews and rates, in no particular order, every film to have won the American Film Academy’s Best Picture award. The three presenters provide some detailed background to the films, and then discuss them before providing contemporary reviews and their own assessment of...Read full review »

The three of you, especially Jess, are terrific. You have to continue together once all the years are covered. A new topic must be covered by the three of you. I can’t think what that should be, perhaps Emmys or golden globes or just major events by year. But never stop!!! You’re great. Or just...Read full review »

I love yr review on the film The Bridge On The River Kwai. It was so interesting, informative, humorous and at times very sad. It is one of my favourite films and to hear it described with such affection made it a privilege to listen too.

This is everything I look for in a film podcast - it’s informative and well-researched while always being an enjoyable listen. The chemistry between the three hosts makes the discussions sing, and even when I disagree with their opinion of a film I can’t fault the arguments made or the way they...Read full review »

I really enjoy this podcast. It is meticulously researched and always interesting. The best parts are often the contextual discussions that are not directly about the film. Love the podcast, even though I find it hard to get the older movies. As a kid I saw most of the 80s movies that are talked about, even though my family was not big on films. There’s a great idea here: three Brits in the entertainment industry randomly select an Oscar winning Best Picture, discuss the ceremony for the year it won, the overall year in cinema, and the making of the film, then watch the film and discuss its quality and whether it deserved to win. Terrific format, lively intelligent conversation; the only downside is that there's just a finite amount of films for them to get through (and of course, Best Picture doesn't always mean best picture...) So I am just not a movie person - the two hour format does not do it for me.
