Description
On today’s episode, Sonja Radvila talks about her path, from Indian classical dance to Ashtanga Yoga to the exploration of different self-inquiry practices to writing her book and creating intuitive prayer jewelry. Sonja talks about the process of breaking out of the mould of the identity of ashtanga yogi, and how this allowed her to make space to receive what the ancient teachings have to offer. She describes how her own practice has changed as she learned to listen to the body, moving away from the fixation with asana and instead prioritizing feeling good. She explained how practising from a caring place, and being softer and kinder to herself on the mat led her to grow in the other limbs of yoga. Sonja then talks about the past two decades studying Indian classical dance and dancing as a way of serving something beyond yourself, allowing the divinity to come through by dissolving into the dance. Then we talk about her book, Young Yogi and the Mind Monsters, and how it came about, the hurdles she faced throughout the process and what it is all about. Sonja also talks about her exploration of other avenues to inquire into the truth of who we are, such as the Satori method — a meditative device to dive into the inquiry “Who am I?” — and plant medicine — which Sonja experienced as a gift for coming back into herself and tapping into her inner wisdom.
