As a long time fan of ATK - I want to like it, but....
I have been an ATK fan for YEARS, and was very happy to be part of the initial group to get to know Milk Street; however, I have not been as thrilled with the Podcast as I had expected. My two biggest issues stem from the increased reliance on 'products' (which feel like commercials, at times) and the new "culinary expert"... I really do not like how condescending she is toward the callers. There have already been several situations where she could have just said, "that's how I do it, but there are other ways," and just moved on, but instead she insists that her way is correct and implies that there is no other possible way of doing things. The 'discussion' about salted vs. unsalted butter was a great example... I was really irritated with her by the end of the episode and if it weren't for the other parts of the program I would completely swear off on this podcast. I hope that Christopher will reconsider his choice of "experts" and get someone that is either more of an actual expert OR someone that is not so quick to judge (and drop names). I am also put off by the way the caller segment is edited - it makes it seem as though the callers are being cut-off mid-sentence, which feels very rude (and condescending). I just don't feel like that segment is really hitting it's mark (like on ATK). Replace it with something (or someone) more palatable before you alienate everyone that still loves ATK.Read full review »

More reviews of Christopher Kimball’s Milk Street Radio
I never thought that I would hear Christopher Kimball discussing Shonen Knife! This is an example of the diverse content that Milk Street covers. I also enjoy the recurring segments with Sara Moulton, Adam Gopnik, and Stephen Meuse. It is an incredible cast--enentaining and informative.

He’s got a lot of great knowledge on cooking, but his journalism/interviewing style is less than enjoyable. Often feels more like an disjointed interrogation than a conversation.
