A friend of mine recommended episode 2, which is long, and worth every second. One of the most amazing, insightful, revolutionary, necessary things I’ve ever heard.

Both of the hosts are such smart, thoughtful people (with very good podcast voices). Their takes are on point - intersectional, current, and nuanced. I can’t wait to see where the season and show go, and I hope more people listen to it and start to rethink their relationship to disability and...Read full review »

Thank you so much for dedicating your time to sharing such an important message. I have been struggling since graduating high school to find out what is “wrong” with me because, while I am academically inclined, I struggle so hard to produce work at a pace and quality that the world expects of...Read full review »

As a mental health professional with over 10 years in the field and as a psychiatric survivor more recently, this podcast has been so important to hear. To give some perspective on the negative review from September, I have to say that holding a doctoral degree in microbiology and understanding...Read full review »

They would get a lot farther with sharing their knowledge if they didn’t speak arrogantly, like they know everything. Mind you, neither of them are mental health professionals so I’m unsure on what qualifies them to make this podcast.

Into this from the first minutes of the first episode! Incredible hosts (love their realness and their humor!) and super helpful content, all talked about through a critical social justice lens. 10/10 will be recommending to my entire community, neuron-divergent and typical alike!!!

I haven't had the experience in a while of wanting to immediately repeat an episode I just finished. I've listened to two episodes and learned so much in a way that I think will actually shift the way I move in the world. I came to the realization not too long ago that I in general feel...Read full review »

I feel unable to verbalize how deeply this resonates. The conversations had on this podcast are ESSENTIAL, NECESSARY, and needs to be part of how we actually educate on mental health. I don’t know how to have these conversations with hardly anyone though, because i understand how the nuances tend...Read full review »

Thank you to the hosts for creating an honest & nuanced place to carefully lift up the suffocating layer of bio essentialism (aka explaining away all human behavior with biology). Not sure if bio essentialism is the right word here, I hope this was clear! It’s exciting to follow your journey,...Read full review »

Very intelligent, breath of fresh air taking on the ideology (capitalism, ableist white cis-heteropatriarchy) beneath the surface of diagnosis and pathologization of our brains and behaviors.

As a former research scientist (environmental evolutionary microbiology) AND ‘neuro-divergent’ with three psychological diagnoses to my name, I have found this podcast to be inherently important for the individual AND the professional. Absolutely stunning and interesting and personal and...Read full review »

Finally!! Extremely intelligent dialogue on the real cause of mental illness and it’s real solution. Really delightful, mentally stimulating, and heart-relieving work, thank you for it!

There’s so many yesssss moments I have when listening to Ayesha, Jess and their guests. Thank you for so compassionately and radically exploring the topics that you are. I’ve been sharing your work with everyone!!

I would love to hear you guys talk about the way conservative Christianity has tried to co-opt therapy language over the years to pathologize things they view as sinful, with homosexuality, transgenderism, and “pornography addiction”. The Conquer Series is the prime example of this today, and it...Read full review »

I am about to be a clinical psychologist in training who, ever since starting to work in the mental health space several years ago, has felt weird about wanting to be a clinical psychologist and often feels weirder about the intersection of medicine and my sociopoliticaletc. views that I don’t...Read full review »

I’ve listened to both episodes twice now, and about to start a third. Great radical thinking with personal experience and peer reviewed sources on how to critique the pathology paradigm. This podcast will break what you think you know about Psychiatry and trauma, so come with curiosity and an...Read full review »

This podcast does a great job of synthesizing a number of hot topics currently spinning through public discourse, to present a perspective on mental health that is incredibly grounded, accessible and frankly just common sense to anyone who has lived a marginalized life. As someone who’s been...Read full review »

I have been struggling with pathologization for a while, and just now finding my way in all of this harsh territory. This is a spectacular way to start the debate within yourself and with loved ones to help us neurodivergents figure out our where to look for help and become part of a community....Read full review »

Great topic for the first episode. I really connected with everything you both said. Obviously your audio quality could be better. But it sounded like you were recording from different locations. Amazing Job. I would love to hear more about racism and mental health. Any tips on navigating that....Read full review »

I’ve been following @wokescientist on ig for a while and the only complaint I have about this podcast is that there is only one episode right now!! Can’t wait for more. Big thank you!

I really enjoyed the insight and critical thought around capitalism and disorder. Maybe just hitting me at a weird time bc I’m in the process of seeking diagnosis so I’d looove to hear an episode on the benefits!
