Today, Google announced one of their flagship games is now available for iOS devices. Ingress by Google, Inc. is an augmented reality massively multiplayer online pervasive game created by Niantic Labs, a startup within Google. The game allows you to head to locations and place your marks down to keep the portals within your team. There are two teams – The “Enlightened” Green team and the “Resistance” Blue team. You basically pick a side, then find portals – which are usually landmarks...

Today, we’re taking a look at another Sim game in Megapolis by Social Quantum. This one seems to match a Sim City or Zynga’s CityVille feel. Your task – simply build a virtual city to attract people and control the infrastructure. You start with a decent amount of coins and some megabucks – both with in-app purchase options starting at .99 cents. When you play Megapolis, you start by building some residential areas, adding markets and wind turbines, then collecting on what was built. Alice,...

Today we are going to take a look at iOS8. Now last week Apple announced at the WWDC conference the new iOS for iPhone, iPod, and iPad. Those devices not making the list would include your iPhone, iPhone 3G, 3GS and 4. 5th generation iPod touch and all models of iPad EXCEPT the iPad v.1 will allow for iOS 8 to be installed. First of all, you won’t be seeing the OS until about September when new devices will also be announced. What Apple does is they get the buzz going and let developers get...

Family Guy – the Quest for Stuff is a game based on the popular show. In the story, Peter has completely destroyed Quahog after the Epic battle between Peter and Ernie the Giant Chicken. Peter realizes his mistake just a little too late and makes it up by rebuilding the town. In order for him to do that, he will have to enlist the help of his friends and family. Instead of it taking a “Habitat for Humanity” approach, the characters have to do special tasks to clear areas of Quahog and build...

While at SXSW, I ran into a company that is working on cards that you use with your iPad. Cartamundi has some project cards where you place, tap the sequential numbers, and the “sticker” shows up on the scene. We placed a series of smurfs on the screen, which we could easily remove with a tap. The next type of card was a 3D visor. You move the card around the iPad and it finds hidden items. Once you uncover the items, they show up on the screen. We used Shrek goggles to find the cool...

Ever since the introduction of the gyroscope on iPads, there have been endless running games that make you tilt your iPads to work. Therefore, it’s nice to get a game every now and then that doesn’t rely on that functionality. Case in point – Mini Ninjas by SQUARE ENIX INC. This game has two basic controls – Jump/scale and attack. Mini Ninjas is also a kid-friendly game – no gratuitous blood or violence beyond the attack. Your job is to avoid obstacles, attack enemies, and gain coins all to...

First of all, I would like to thank Jack and Carol Ellis. They sent me their 1st generation iPad because they knew I could use it on the show. Future episodes will include segments called “Will it Run on iPad 1” – highlighting everything you still can do with the first generation iPad. With this episode, I would like to reintroduce you to the iPad that started it all. Is it worth keeping, or should you get rid of it? What the 1st Gen iPad Can Do The A4 processor is a single core chip...

I have gone through 4 iPads – the first two I had to take off apps all the time, because they were 16 GB models. Even with the 32 GB iPad Air, I still find myself taking apps off to save space. Best part is I can bring all those apps back. Free or paid. Do I have to Re-Buy an iPad app? No. It’s yours until the app is no longer in the app store. However, in-app purchases may or may not be there, depending on how the app has changed. Will it Remember My Settings? No. If you move to a new...

For 2014, I start iPad365 with a bang. Well, a first-person shooter in Call of Duty®: Strike Team by Activision. This is a great game to show off the graphic capabilities of the iPad Air. With Call of Duty, you can use – or turn off – the built-in accelerometer functions to move your character around. You can also swipe to turn for faster movements. The left side of the ipad will allow you to move forward, and the series of options let you chose weapons, call your teammates, switch to your...

Lets take a look back at the iPad apps that are not only useful for many, but I find I use everyday. These apps help me do business, play, learn and much more. Honorable Mentions: Not all apps made the list. I also play Clash of Clans and Snoopy’s Street Fair. For Business apps, I also use iMovie, Evernote, and Prezi 10. DuoLingo It’s the app of the year. I found it to be pretty productive in learning a language. Jennifer uses it a lot. You can choose between languages and work at your own...

Over the weekend I purchased my iPad Air. The new version of iPad is actually a departure from the original design. But is it enough of a difference to upgrade from your 4th generation iPad? What about an iPad 2? Differences Between iPad Air and iPad 4. OK. First of all, I am going to start calling it iPad 4 as opposed to “4th Generation iPad”. Now that’s out of the way… There are FOUR differences * the iPad Air is about an inch smaller * The Air is .43 lbs lighter * The new 64 bit...

Today I have two apps for you if you are a fan of Star Wars. Star Wars Tiny Death Star If you like hotel style games, Star Wars: Tiny Death Star by LucasArts might be the game for you. Not only is it a hotel game, but also a 8-bit game to give that retro feel. In Tiny Death Star you build up levels by keeping stores stocked, new employees to their dream jobs and finding rebel scum to interrogate. Yes, you are part of the Empire on this game. New people enter the elevator asking for a...

If you like farming games, then Hay Day by Supercell is a fun game you can load right onto your iPad. Start by planting wheat and raising chickens. As you grow, you get more crops to plant and more animals to take care of. Sell your produce at the farmers market or trade with friends. Then you can come back and build more like a bigger silo or processing facilities. Although you can connect to Facebook, you can also play this game just as well without doing so. In-app purchases start at...

Today we’re taking a look at Candy Crush Saga for iPad. It’s that game you see on Facebook where everyone wants to connect with you. I have seen many-a-post saying people will get disowned if they get invited to play. But did you know you can play this game without even connecting to Facebook? Candy Crush Saga by King.com I have been playing this game for a couple months now and I am kinda addicted. Of course I am a fan of those match 3 games. Best part is the game gets more challenging as...

First of all, iPad365 has a new location! I have moved the show from Geekazine.com to its own website! It wasn’t an easy thing to do, but needed to be done! You can now search episodes easier! Pac Man Dash! I was a big Pac-man fan growing up. The resurgence of the game in different versions gets me excited and thinking I’m a child again. One of the games I got to playing a few weeks ago was PAC-MAN DASH! by NamcoBandai Games. In this game, Pac Man’s job is to eat cookies, ghosts, fruits...

Another game I found this last week for iPad is called Dots: A Game About Connecting – Betaworks One. This is a fun and very addictive color dot matching game. Simply connect two or more dots with a line of the same color. If the dots create a box, complete the box line and all of that color will leave the board. The more boxes you close, the more points you get. You have 60 seconds to make as many connections as possible. Best part is if you have a line of dots, followed by 4 in a box, you...

I have a lot of music apps. Nothing like Musyc – Fingerlab though. Musyc is a new way to make music and be a little creative as well. In a way, it turns music into a Rub Goldberg type device. With Musyc, you drop shapes on a line. Each shape has a different sound. Put in a second line and all the shapes clash with each other. Get really creative and your shapes can turn into symphonies. I created a board I call “Pinball”. The drop-ball floats along the board and drops down circles, which...

I am a sucker for the color block games. Its all about strategy and concentration. That is the same with Panda Jam – SGN. Your job is to remove the color blocks that hold the panda up in the air. Collect strawberries to get 3-stars before you send the panda home to their mom. Each island has an easy, moderate and hard stage. Basically one, two or three pandas to rescue. You have only a limited number of moves to get the baby pandas down. Sometimes you will get special pandas which you will...

Gearing up for the third installment of the Iron Man movie series, Iron Man 3 – The Official Game – Gameloft was released. The game, a coin collecting, drone destroying, plane avoiding game follows Tony Stark as Iron Man going after the bad guys. He must collect Stark coins for upgrades and fend off the evil Crimson Dynamo and other super villains. The game uses swipe movements – the bottom of the screen is for moving left and right – while the top will shoot down all bad guys. Avoid...

Imagine this: you are a vampire boy that is being chased through the back woods of France. You need to stay ahead of the lynch mob so you run your heart out. Along the way you chomp on red pigs and avoid orange ones (because they contain garlic). You chop trees to cross the stream and swipe to avoid other obstacles. If you can imagine this, then you are playing Le Vamp – High Voltage Software. You are the boy running from the mob. The longer you run, the more points you get. Collect coins...

If you are looking for that realistic feel of pinball then Pinball Arcade – FarSight Studios might be for you. It gets as close as it can to playing the pinball games you might have grown up with. Star Trek, Bride of Pinbot and more – you can choose from 3 table views. You can even tilt the machine. By not designating where the flipper buttons are it makes the play easier. Touch the right side and hit the right flipper. Pinball Arcade is .99 cents and the pinball machines are in-app...

I have played Angry Birds in the past and thought – that’s nice now I need to do something productive. For some reason that changes when the words “Star” and “Wars” are put together. It’s kinda like chocolate and peanut butter. I finally broke down and put the Angry Birds Star Wars HD – Rovio Entertainment Ltd game on my iPad. At first it was pretty easy – Luke bird with a lightsaber attacking sand people pigs. Then it got interesting. The Good – Angry Birds Star Wars Turns out there is a...
