Most of us got through child bearing and rearing without having to listen to a 30 year old behaving like she’s the first person to ever do it. It’s basically a Huggies ad.

They LITERALLY recommend watching Call the Midwife and One Born Every Minute as realistic birth preparation! These shows have women on their backs screeching in high stress situations for entertainment purposes not education.. so far from what normal or healthy birth looks like and will just make...Read full review »

Hi! I love this pod, it’s great! I’m pregnant and listened to the Bec Judd season all too quick early in my pregnancy. There were bits I was hoping to revisit now that I’m further along, especially when she had Dr’s and Midwife Kat on. Where did those episodes go?! Mel

Just listened to the first six weeks episode and my advice to anyone who hasn’t listened to it - don’t waste your time. A Doula (who has absolutely zero qualifications, zero medical qualifications, education or knowledge on anything and everything baby/postpartum etc) plugging their own...Read full review »

I’m 12 weeks pregnant and when I first found out I was pregnant I started listening to hello bump season 1 and I loved it so much, it felt personable and had so much information on how I would feel and what should I know. Then they deleted season 1 from apple podcast and I had to wait for this...Read full review »

I usually love Mumma Mia podcasts, and I usually love Jessie Stephens take on things on Out Loud, so I’m kind of baffled as to how much this podcast is missing the mark. The majority of women aren’t being represented in the discussion. Most people can’t afford private health care, a massage a...Read full review »

Really love listening to this podcast as a way to gain further insight into the pregnancy experience in a open-minded, comforting, informative and relatable way! Feel like I can understand what my pregnant friends are going through after listening to the eps and I especially love the hosts’...Read full review »

Really helpful - especially the month by month approach.

Enjoying the new updated episodes but would love to be able to revisit the first season as the episodes are very sentimental to me for my first pregnancy.

Love this podcast, it’s the first podcast I listened to for my first baby and now the new series is out for my last bubba!

I’ve loved the first two episodes and so looking forward to the rest of the series. Especially enjoyed hearing Martha’s experience with HG in ep 2. For older women like me who never new anything about it, it’s great that younger women are better informed.

The episode “morning sickness to hg” sucked, the title didn’t really fit the content and it was dismissive to people who have gone through Hyperemesis. Very disappointed that Jessie has gone on to mock the backlash online rather than admit that if the HG community hated the episode, they might...Read full review »

From a HG sufferer, the HG episode was very poorly executed, and the fact no one from Mamamia took accountability from the comments and feedback about this episode was extremely disappointing.

This is perfectly timed for where I am in my pregnancy and it gave me some light when I really needed it. Thank you.

I found the discussion with Martha about if she would have another baby after having a HG pregnancy to be a bit off, she had a baby 4 months ago and suffered severe HG, not really something to ask someone who has so recently come out of that very traumatic experience. As someone who has...Read full review »

Love this podcast and looking forward to more but was half way through the old one and wanted to keep listening to that too? Wish you had kept the old season on here so we could listen to both. Thanks :) keep it coming!

Love! This new season is fantastic!!

However please to any HG mums disregard what Martha said about HG not being genetic, it is and that was discovered a few years ago. There is also a 80% chance of it reoccurring. I’ve had it twice and it’s F***ed. hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

I was looking forward to an update on this as I am currently pregnant but it has not hit the mark. Jessie hosting this…shocker. I didn’t know she was pregnant. Or married to the son of the owners of MM. The comment by the host in episode 1 “did it stick” when interviewing the poor listener Megan, who had opened up about getting her first positive pregnancy test ever (after 5 years of infertility and starting IVF treatment) was completely insensitive. Not a bad podcast, but as it was recorded pre-covid, a lot of things have changed ie. length of hospital stays. As others have said, it’s definitely targeted towards a more wealthy audience with little diversity. Definitely focused towards a more privileged audience. Bec Judd is not relatable at all, very entitled with her suggestions of pre-birth facials and massages and the “superior” private birthing option. The least maternal person to host. Most women cannot afford these lovely suggestions, but...Read full review »

I was willing to look past the sloppy scripting and poor sound quality because I need a good podcast about pregnancy and child raising. Entertaining but really disempowering. I still remember, when I was in transition, screaming for an epidural because it was so normalised and I’d heard here you can get it till basically the end. Then the cascade of interventions started. I’ll listen elsewhere next time.

I really died and felt sorry for the poor women they interviewed in the first episode when they asked her “did it stick?” and then further along the story they were like “come on give me a good story”

This is the most heteronormative, gender stereotype reinforcing, non-diverse podcast I have ever listened to. I suggest the creators take a good look at themselves, and perhaps receive some education in modern families, the harm that can come from so blatantly perpetuating gender stereotypes and...Read full review »

I tried so hard to give this podcast a go. Unfortunately I just couldn’t get past the ever-persistent tone of privilege. The private system bias is so blatant throughout which makes the content so out-of-touch and inapplicable to a large portion of pregnant Australians. Well-meaning I’m sure, but...Read full review »

Don’t listen to this if you actually want a balanced and educated view on birth and birth options. They present a one sided view on epidurals and birth interventions ignoring things like ‘cascade of interventions’ and actually empowering women to listen to their bodies. I found the stories told very heavily geared towards women who simply want an efficient, pain-free labour at all costs (and are privileged enough to pay for it). As the title says, I’m a bit torn on how I feel about this podcast. On the one hand I did enjoy it and listened to the whole series. Once I listened to the doctor try to say that you get your fertility back in 3 days that’s it for me. I cannot listen anymore. These ladies meant well. There are plenty of good laughs to be had throughout this podcast, but it is SO hetero-normative and from a position of INCREDIBLE privilege. Made me a little sad to only hear the one VERY narrow perspective. Also, lesbians, trans men and non-binary folk have babies too. 😱

Thanks ladies! This has gotten me through my pregnancy and thanks for introducing me to Midwife Cath too! Bought The First Six Weeks after listening and it such good practical experienced advice. Love her!! Bec and Monique are a great combo and Bec is a super down to earth mum. :) Love it

Podcast is entertaining ... but aimed only at private model of care. I don’t want to sound rude but the midwife has very outdated opinions.
jjjjleeleo via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 06/27/20
Questions felt simple and nothing like the ‘stuff no one tells you’ tagline. Agree with other reviewers that it felt like it was skewed to those more privileged - a little out of touch.
