Thank you for giving words to my feelings
Thank you. I was born into and raised in the evangelical church in Australia. My parents were pastors and I experienced both the good and bad of both christians and the church. I am now 40 and find myself reflecting on the stand out moments of my childhood and young adulthood and this podcast put into words this dreadful sick feeling I have in my stomach about the parts of my upbringing that weren’t talked about or noticed. It would have been a very different situation if the things witnessed were genuinely discussed. But they were hushed away and while the church expected a believer to be accountable and transparent with their walk with God, leadership was given an exception. Leadership was above correction. Leadership was above reflection. Leadership was above discussion. No one is perfect - that’s what’s awesome about Jesus and Gods love for us. These leaders believe themselves, on some scale, to be better than us common followers. I personally hope these leaders go down and feel some sense of the hurt they have inflicted on the church people because they believed they had bigger fish to fry than the rest of us. They actively showed that they believe they are better than the rest of us and a lot of the time, they enjoyed their status and power. And no, the devil isn’t trying to drag you down because of the success you are having in the kingdom.

Wow
Fantastic investigative work. I went to their church in ottawa Canada but had bad vibes right from the start. Especially considering I’m lgbt and I believe the pastors knew that. It is not shocking to me that there’s corruption and sexual assault crimes in this community. I mean it happens...Read full review »

Personally, I’ve experienced spiritual abuse and I’ve seen many issues within the modern day evangelical church. With that being said, I feel like this podcast is not really looking to reform the church but rather a socio-political Trojan horse. With pushinga very obvious modern day agenda, I...Read full review »
