Since I only listened to Season 1 and 2 („Home is Life“ and „The Forgotton Revolutionary“) I can only speak for those: An interesting, insightful and compassionate listen. Edit: The feed is getting a little all over the place. There are standing out-episodes, then there are series, there is a...Read full review »

Emily Guerin is so mealy-mouthed (and vaguely an apologist for racist, entitled behavior) in the People vs Karen episode. She goes so far as to rue that a white woman’s feeeeelings are on trial. Spoiler: it was her actions that were on trial. And her actions endangered the reputations and lives...Read full review »

Feels more like a college radio show than a professional podcast. The hard left political angle, as well as the chicken little climate “crisis” screeching that infuse every aspect of the show, as well as long pauses that make me think the show ended or dropped out, the horrible reading skills...Read full review »

There’s almost nothing to the magic castle episodes, maybe that’s the point. A slight of hand, an illusion of a story. Needs so much more than a couple of opinions.

The music, the production, all top notch. But this is hardly journalism as it’s rife with errors, omissions and misleading information. For instance, in one of the first episodes, the greatest offense they level at the castle is that the adjacent hotel posted a pro-law enforcement social media...Read full review »

I think this discussion does promote some awareness but completely misses the mark in having Afrolatinos included in the discussion of anti Blackness in the Latino community. We DO exist. We ARE in Los Angeles and Latinos are NOT a monolith. This podcast fails to educated on the comments that...Read full review »

On top of the obviously click baiting use of the racist ‘Karen’ euphemism, all the pod accomplished is a painful rehash of an incident that had been swiftly identified by local law enforcement, and where the “mom fluencer” Sorensen was held accountable. I have yet to see any actual data that...Read full review »

Great show with real journalistic integrity. So many times broadcast news drops a story once the headlines are pushed out by the newest topic with no follow up. This podcast does a deep dive into the stories that affect all of us and the way we move forward as a society.

This podcast is seriously amazing! The thoroughness and thoughtfulness of the reporting is impressive. Thank you for reporting on these issues. I love the local perspective.

Before listening to the episodes featuring Ms. Martinez I didn’t have an opinion about her work but of course had read the press about the tapes of the LA City Council meeting. After hearing this podcast I came away thinking while (obviously) wrong what Ms. Martinez (and her male colleagues)...Read full review »

I really appreciate this thoughtful exploration of this explosion in LA politics. LA has a lot of work to do to eliminate racism, anti-blackness and colorism. These are the conversations that are desperately needed.

I have generally appreciated this podcast, but the latest series on Nury Martinez should have been a quick 30 minutes instead of 3 hours. So much time was wasted on exposition of clips that were just played.

This is so important and so well done. The ex-Pres is clearly deferring and the interviewer does an excellent job of emphasizing this, while yet not shutting down conversation. The audience gets to learn things anyway, in spite of it all. And the knowledge brought to the interviews by the...Read full review »

But so far they aren’t really holding her accountable. She’s doing the classic politician trick of not asking the question that was asked but answering the question she wants to answer and they don’t push back at all. So far she’s chalking her racist remarks up to having a bad day.

I wish we could start referring to people from Latin America and of Latin American descent as that: Latin American Its the most accurate and appropriate way to refer to us. Its already gender neutral, and it recognizes us as american.

I’m engrossed in Season 4 of this podcast, but why are the release dates so inconsistent? I’m guessing the entire season is finished, as this podcast is not an ongoing story requiring constant updates. So why aren’t they dropping the new episodes weekly? I don’t get it.
