So grateful to have found Helen & Katie
I found this podcast just as I was trying to break away from my mother’s shackles after 42 years. I was so enmeshed and parentified, and she was the Queen at motivational empathy. I decided to break away when I saw her inflicting her behaviour on my young son and she ignored all my requests that she stop, and she bulldozed any boundaries I tried to instill. Had it not been for my son, I would have lived the rest of my life like this, but my son gave me the strength to pursue a better life for him, and then Katie & Helen gave me the knowledge to understand my past and how it affects me now, and the support I needed to stay on this path when I was self-gaslighting and saying it hadn’t been that bad (but it had been!). Almost 12 months on since I found the podcast and life is much improved. I have absolutely no doubts about my decision. The trauma bond is well and truly broken. (I do plan on seeing a therapist, but I haven’t found one yet, plus I’m time poor as a solo mum, so the podcast - and the extra support in the private forum - is perfect for me right now). I listened to many podcasts on this journey, but this is the only one that I stuck with. Katie & Helen’s banter and their sharing of personal experiences makes the podcast relatable. It doesn’t feel like just an educational podcast, but it is a connection I look forward to every week (plus I am a member of The Freudian Slip on Patreon, so I get access to the extra Tuesday chat and the fortnightly theory podcast). I quite literally find myself counting down the hours until the next episode ‘drops’. I’m eternally grateful for this podcast.

Helen & Katie are a fabulous duo with a tremendous amount of professionalism and knowledge. I’ve cried, I’ve giggled but most of all I’m learning more about myself with every episode. I’ve started to take notes on things that resonate with me so I can try an implement in my every day life....Read full review »

I have not heard such poignant examples, as the ones used in these podcasts, to clarify and simplify concepts that would usually drive me crazy from analysis-paralysis. For many of us, survivors, it is very difficult to determine where the boundary of appropriate behaviour lies. We, more often...Read full review »

This podcast has been life changing for me. I can't thank the both of you enough for providing validation for a lifelong experience that has felt so isolating I was convinced I was the only one going through it. I have never been able to properly express the crushing weight of growing up with...Read full review »
