Married to a monster
Karla gives a great accounting of what it was like being married to a sociopath. Note that all sociopaths and psychopaths are narcissists. Not all narcissists are either sociopaths or psychopaths. My ex is a psychopath per the FBI. My family and I were told we are very lucky to be alive. The agent said he would not tell us what they knew about him because we would never sleep again. He is in prison. Karla describes the love bombing, the charming personality, the lies...and more. This should be taught in high school! What I have learned is it is almost impossible explaining what these monsters are and why we stayed. Karla sounds still very wounded yet working hard to recover. I suppose most of us that have been through this understands. Some things she says made me want to laugh. Not at Karla, but at myself. She reminded me of a couple of things. The lie about doing a job for the CIA...yeah, I fell for that and kept my mouth shut because I was ashamed of him for doing that. Of course these guys are not CIA operatives. Great liars! For everyone that has been through this consider listening to Phil Collins sing I Don’t Care Anymore. A little pain relief. He must have been through this at some point as he sings with heartfelt emotion. Karla, I wish you the best! Red Flags...one is fuzzy. If they say the ex was crazy, stay away. Yet they are crazy and we tell people this.

It really is just a retelling of your story, you are narcissistic...Read full review »

My research led me to your podcast. Since the narcissist doesn’t recognize they have a problem and they don’t need help - we do… they rarely end up exploring how they are wired, so they are rarely diagnosed. I am THIRTY TWO years in and I am FINALLY getting the answers I scratched my head about...Read full review »
