This podcast is like college or graduate history, it is more focused on issues of class, gender, and race than great events or politics and war. I've listened to a bunch of different history podcasts and was happy to find this one. I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Bulgaria, where Ottoman history is still felt very deeply and with a lot of anger, and I'm glad to know more about it. Chris Graten (or however you spell his name) is great. I’ve been listening to this podcast for years. I have a graduate degree in Middle East Studies, but I’m not in academia. The discussions are in depth and scholarly but really accessible.
