The Opening Song
I just visited this podcast channel At the podcast 18#Gaze, the opening song belongs to a genre which we call "Arabesque" in Turkey and in my (and I guess most of people who live here in Turkey) humble opinion; it does not fit the subject "Ottoman" Such music did not existed back then. If you make a Turk listen that kind of music and ask what it made them think of; they will probably suggest something like low standart drinking places or an old film with a tragic scenerio.. So as a Turk, it kinda made me sad that this kind of music representing such rich and serene civilization.. To your concern Thanks for reading this.Read full review »

I have always wanted to learn more about the Ottoman Empire, but which podcast? I just listened to the 12/11 show on Slavery and I am hooked. Nice balance to this topic with an guest who was an expert, but also humble. Great Show!! Lookking forward to listening to all the previous shows.
