David has a passion for all things sleep, and with his breadth of experience and training, is devoted to helping to develop the field of sleep medicine as well as educating health care professionals and the public about sleep. In this episode David talks about how important sleep is to maintaining good physical and mental health, how we need to create space in our day for sleep, that it’s hard to put a number on how many hours sleep we need, that we should be setting aside 8 hours for sleep instead of trying to get 8 hours of sleep a night. He also explains that for good sleep, we need to have respect for sleep, that alcohol is a double-edged sword when it comes to sleep and why it’s important to consider what type of sleeper you are.
