If the game is anything like this ongoing rambling review I’ll pass

There isn’t anyone else in the hobby making stuff like susd. There talents shouldn’t be wasted talking about cardboard tbh, I’m so grateful they do though. There passion got me into gaming.

For years I had to hide my love of board games. Then this pod happened and made them cool again. Not only is that enough to warrant 5-stars, but their opening my eyes to hundreds of new games cements that 5-star, must listen, podcast review.

I was a bit late to the SUSD party, but I have been listening for over a year now, and I look forward to every installment. The banter is witty and pleasant, and never digresses too much from the task at hand. The reviews and commentary are thoughtful, and while YMMV, I have found that their...Read full review »

But this show is full of great humour and insight. I really like looking through the back episodes. There are in-depth conversations about game designs—not just bird games, but also TTRPGs, and also unusual games like water gun assasination.

There are a number of excellent podcasts covering board games. This is the very, very best. And it’s funny

Well, I really like this podcast, and the YouTube videos too. I just have one problem and that is that the hosts have a bit too much of a tendency to chase controversy and hate on universally loved games. The fact that they DIDN’T recommend Root, but gave the SEAL OF APPROVAL to Turncoats, a...Read full review »

There are many other podcasts with the same goals as this one, and many do it well. Why did I feel compelled to come write a review for this already very successful podcast instead of helping out someone smaller? Ava has recently recorded a pair of innovative and completely unexpected...Read full review »

I’ve been a fan of the show for a while, but their banter is getting a bit salty.. hope they bring in some new voices (maybe some more diversity? Diversity in game tastes?) The general vibe I get is aggressive gamer and it’s worn on me.

Just listened to Ava’s solo game episode and her voice has the same cadence as Neil Gaiman’s. very chill.

I love listening to this podcast - the diversity in the board game preferences of the hosts is so wonderful. They are witty and funny and clever and respectful of eachother and it is a joy to listen to them each week.

All of the SU&SD content is whimsical and passionate and intelligent and enjoyable. Highly recommended.

SU&SD are the best, easily. They’re smart, funny, and very great at articulating what makes a game good or bad, though I do wish that they would take some critical takes on board games or the industry as a whole. I understand why they take the extremely approachable stance to board games on...Read full review »

Hey I have been listening to the podcast for years and I have always enjoyed it but I had to leave a comment after I listened to Ava’s cozy corner. It was such a pleasant change up and I really enjoyed the presentation. Please let’s see more creative entries like this. Lots of love for the whole...Read full review »

Not sure why it took me so long to stumble across this podcast as I have been a big fan of the video series. The podcast translates well and I have enjoyed returning back to the earlier eps and listening to the evolution of the podcast. Just about started on 2014 episodes and felt I needed to...Read full review »

Dropped. They have moved so far beyond games that I think they need to get into general journalism and get real jobs. They use games to push a woke agenda. They virtue signal so badly that they can’t see their own hypocrisy in it. This is NOT what I want in game coverage.
TacticalPreacher via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 06/16/22
The amount of thought put into their reviews is incredible and they still have energy to be very funny and even thought provoking when considering topics like the impact of the hobby on the environment, the messiness of history in a game’s theme and the business aspect of board gaming. A great in depth, entertaining podcast on a wide variety of board games. Some light, some heavy, mostly good, sometimes bad. The emphasis is on games that are worth your time, described by smart British folk who have a knack for making the movement of bits sound fun.

These awesome people create the best content all about aboard games that’s out there. I guess a good point is that I really enjoy listening to them even if the game does not interest me at all just because they have such a good vibe and are able to paint pictures with their words.

I’ve enjoyed this podcast for years but recently not so much. A bit too fluffy for me now. I enjoyed more the deep dives and thorough analysis of the past.

SUSD got me—and by extension, the rest of my friend group—into board games. I love all of the hosts, and their discussions are consistently both informative and entertaining. If you’re on the fence at all, do yourself a favor and give it a listen!

I find the stance "we want more people to play games" is not good enough. People won't get into the hobby if all you recommend are games that last two plays. They need to cover good games and for that they need to play them more than once or even 5 times. ----- I think this...Read full review »

That’s not entirely correct, but the team’s expert coverage of all things board games definitely is. This show (along with the excellent YouTube channel) have helped steer us in the right direction re tabletop purchases for years.

TLDR: If you like podcasts with funny, well-spoken, heartfelt individuals, sharing laughs and opinions over a thing that we can all use a little more of - fun! - then, have a listen to this podcast. I have been listening to the SU&SD podcast for a few years now and even though it’s meant as an accompaniment to the YouTube channel, I probably think of it as the team’s “main” thing because it accompanies me on my commute. Fantastic podcast and team. Been listening to SUSD from the start, decided to review when Ava mentioned what they want to do on the first game night post lockdown. Somehow it just hit a nerve. One of the best podcast out there and Tom is doing a great job of bringing it to us more frequently.
