This podcast has LITERALLY changed my life!
Dear Valerie and Allison. After (too) many years of getting 20,000 or so words into a manuscript, my ideas would stop, my momentum atrophy, and I would reach an end deader than there's ever been, leaving me with a pile of abandoned stories in a Dropbox folder named, 'The Unfulfilled.' But after revisiting your podcast from the very first episode right up to the present, I finally got the message, Allison's voice like a helpful little flea in my ear: Keep. Writing. I told myself to stop giving up when it gets hard; push through - even if most of what I get down might be jettisoned further down the track. Just keep going. Write the damn book. So I did, every night, after the day was done, from 10pm till 1am. I just kept writing. And guess what? Hoo boy, it worked! I've not only pushed well past that 20,000 word barrier but, one morning while making school lunches, an outline to my novel just presented itself to me like Daniel Craig knocking on my door - so perfect, so right, just in time and all mine! I've not got a single doubt now that this manuscript will be completed! I've also finally heard the message that writing isn't something 'other people' do, so I'm currently enrolled in the Advanced Fiction Writing course at the Aust. Writers Centre, I've done Natasha Lester's Two Hours to Scrivener Power which is possibly the best four hours I've ever invested in (because I've gone through it twice; this app so perfectly suits my writing style and practice) and I've submitted a poem to a poetry competition - my first ever submission! Val and Al, thank you for your podcast, and thank you for coming into my life. Because of you I feel like my own story is finally about to begin. LayneRead full review »

I can safely say that I wouldn’t be the writer I am today without this podcast. Keep up the...Read full review »

I subscribed to the Australian Writers Centre ages ago, and look forward to each podcast. As soon as the AWC (Australian Writers Centre) newsletter hits my inbox, I'm off to the kitchen, once I have a coffee in hand, its feet up and have a good read. Once that's devoured, (both coffee...Read full review »

Really enjoyable podcast. Great info for writers in Australia though the intro is a disaster. Completely out of place.
