Jag brukar somna till poddar om ämnen som intresserar mig, men här är det för intressant och för intresserat - jag vaknar till istället och vill lära mig allt om nattfjärilar eller allergier. Initierat, kunnigt, nördigt.

Every week this show delivers an interesting discussion and normally results in more additions to my ‘to read’ pile. The new post-Marr format of rotating presenters is refreshing and less egotistical in style. And speaking are even now allowed to be honest about how bad Brexit is going.

Can someone ask the host to resist the urge to interrupt his guests? We genuinely want to hear what they have to say. That is, we haven’t run out of attention quite as quickly as he has.

I just discovered this podcast recently because I was looking about Harari’s interviews. I found this one very good because the host is continuously pushing Harari for concrete examples and Harari gives really convincing ones (to be fair, Harari usually explains spontaneously his statements with...Read full review »

Compared to the previous presenters he’s sharp, gets the point; asks good questions. Pls keep him on; and the previous presenters away.

I love this podcast for the quirky ideas my week is incomplete without listening in.

Andrew Marr no longer able to promote himself on a Monday morning. Amol Rajan makes Start the Week listenable again.

excellent discussions on books and ideas

This show is a long-running British institution, challenging current topics thoughtfully examined. What makes the show particularly special si the way that the presenters (the very best at the BBC) chair the 3-4 guests and keep the conversation flowing.

Great arts round table discussion show, especially when hosted by Andrew Marr or Tom Sutcliffe.

Always worth a listen. Good mix of people discussing cultural issues, latest books/plays/documentaries etc...

My thoughts and prayers are with Andrew Marr and his family as he recovers. It might have been better if they had let this show go on hiatus during his illness, as the guest moderators, great as they may be in their fields of expertise, cannot direct and guide the discussions with the expertise...Read full review »

I, too, learned of this outstanding program from an endorsement by Stephen Metcalf of Slate's Culture Gabfest, and it's now one of my three must-listen shows each week. Civil, engaging, stimulating conversation with a host adept at his work.Read full review »

This was a delightful podcast I religiously listened to whenever new episodes came out, the odd miss here and there notwithstanding. Whatever happened to it?

Start the Week is a cultural forum for the southern English bourgeoisie. If one of the panellists didn't go to private school or Oxbridge, they're treated as though they've just landed from the Planet Xarg. It's a good show, but listening to it from the provinces can sometimes...Read full review »

Start the Week is wicked!
Ed the Zed via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 05/24/10
One of the few programmes anywhere on any format that consistently has me scrambling for pen and paper to note quotes, book and event details, and cutting edge, popular and even esoteric ideas. Exquisite.

No matter what the subject being covered is, this is always interesting and worth listening to. Highly recommended.

Marr has the capacity to infuriate and inspire, not quite in equal measure; a kind of smug self-righteous certainty and lack of reflective qualities combined with accurate non-PC qualities we need on the radio... my drive to work is better off for it though! Damn him!
BoomShackerLacker via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 04/13/09
I listen to Start the Week while wandering to work, I always enjoy the discourse which Andrew Marr steers along nicely. It's maybe a bit arts orientated, as a scientist I'd like a little more focus on science and fact, but it's still a spot-on, intellectual start to my week (while I...Read full review »

I've enjoyed this program for a few years. However, it seems like they only keep the previous week's program in the podcast queue. Somehow my computer missed an episode 3 weeks ago and I am unable to download it now, because only the current program is listed. (I'm a little behind on...Read full review »

I have to admit that some of the guests disappear up their own backsides occasionally, but Andrew expertly reigns them in :D Most of the subjects and books covered are of interest and Andrew is always on top form. Best BBC show there is, when it's on that is :) The show will be back on on...Read full review »

What is engaging in StW is the level of spontaneity that permeates the interviews. And from this perspective, it is much better than (the TV show) Newsnight's review. With Marr are the real people taht have done this and that, while in many other cultural programs on the (UK) radio, the...Read full review »

Start the Week always fascinates me, even when the topics discussed are ones I would have sworn could never interest me. Four authors read each other's books, then get together with Andrew Marr to discuss them. The result is a conversation, brilliantly led by Marr, which invariably...Read full review »

Unlike podcasts created by people in their bedroom - the BBC Podcasts come from radio shows and this is no exception. The reason the Start the Week podcast isn't currently available is because it isn't currently being made/broadcast by the BBC. Although I think the new series starts soon.Read full review »
