I only had a small inkling of who Emma of Normandy was. I now realize she and other ladies were serious powers in their time. Their memory and legacies were destroyed by individuals (men and women) rewriting the truths of history. Thanks for shining a light on one tough woman!

Focus on the actual story at hand. Too many tangents. The narration sounds more like an audiobook than a podcast. Mispronounced names. Too many elaborate, unnecessary metaphors. This story has so much potential but the narration and script is lackluster.

A great story paired with a great storyteller is magic! I have loved listening! I’ve learned so much. Thank you!

Loved the idea of this topic, and definitely inspired me to learn more about Emma of Normandy. But after season 1 I’m giving up. Whole episodes that go off onto the mushrooms in Alice in Wonderland (seriously, for a quarter of the episode) or history of the Loch Ness monster rather than the...Read full review »

Too painful. So incongruous. Cringey.

I wanted facts, not the imaginings of a romance novelist. The narration is childish. I gave up part way through the third episode.

If you like intro to creative writing style prose as read by an elementary school librarian from the the Deep South, then this might be for you.

…but holy over the top writing and narration. This is without a doubt the worst historical fiction I’ve ever seen in a podcast. The shadows of flames licking up the walls like a cat licking up cream? Are you kidding me? Then they double down with a southern American narrator who sounds better...Read full review »

Disable the notifications on your computer that keep pinging throughout the podcast. It may not bother some but it’s very distracting to me. Thanks!

I don’t think there’s enough concentration on Emma and too much information on other things. Maybe not too much information but too much time spent on that information.

Enjoyable short snippets of history, but very much an American viewpoint of a very English turbulent times. Simplistic, but nevertheless interesting and will entice those new to history to read and explore further. Intriguing and reachable.

I really enjoyed Season 1. Love stories of this time period. I do appreciate the absence of commercials but wish the episodes were a little longer.

The content is amazing! Amazing topic, A POWERFUL WOMAN!!! This podcast has the potential to be amazing. 1 The script is too narrative in nature. Is it a book or podcast? It’s written like a novel not historical, fact based piece. 2 The narrator has a voice that is too ‘southern American’. A...Read full review »

I listened to 4 episodes of absolute fiction. Waxing poetic about fires. Endless absolutely false dialogue. Zero facts. I had high hopes, but this is a disgusting waste of time. Unsubscribed.

Awesome history podcast about a queen I’d never heard of, with a lot of context about the times and culture. Only complaint is each episode is too short, but love it!

I’m one of those who didn’t know Emma until now. I’ve just listened to the (first?) 12 episodes on a road trip, and it definitely made the miles fly by. I’m not a fan of serials and usually don’t listen until all episodes are available, so now I’m at the frustration point of wondering how many...Read full review »

I stumbled upon this podcast thru an ad on Instagram, and I’m glad I did. I love all things Medieval, and I’m happy to see this podcast bring the life of Emma of Normandy, a relatively unknown Queen and powerhouse to a wider audience. I appreciate how they weave other historical elements to...Read full review »

The writing style is a little florid, I’m cool with it. If you can handle some of the Wondery true crime stuff the style won’t bother you..but the voice!?!? It is painfully annoying. The vowels are flat and the tone grating. I think people underestimate how much talent and training is needed to...Read full review »

Two eps in. This is historical fiction, not a history podcast. Eleven minutes in the first episode, and it all sounded like “In a world where…” I would love some actual facts, not a reading of a novel. I’ve been digging on this, and I have yet to find a mention of the murder or treason...Read full review »

Great story but the narrator’s voice is cloying and a distraction. It’s as if she is reading from a children’s book, sing songy.

Very intriguing and informative! It gets your attention immediately. Can’t wait to listen to more episodes!
