This pod would have been fun enough if it was simply a “remember when” for 2007-2012 hip hop, but the brothers did a great job of telling the story of the individuals behind many of the most popular blogs, and then explaining the many reasons for their demise. Definite must listen.

Itsthereal and their ability to tell stories, or just create entertaining content, is remarkable. I have never not enjoyed something I have consumed by then. I am a nostalgic mf and this has been my favorite project they’ve done. I, like many of us who tuned in every week, was emotional when it...Read full review »

Jeff and Eric Rosenthal have told an essential story of hip-hop history. Being a ‘90s dinosaur, I had never heard the name Eskay and I’m so grateful to be educated on his powerful role in hip-hop of the 2000s and ‘10s. I wonder if something can be done at the Universal Hip-Hop Museum to...Read full review »

I’m a TV producer by trade and have been laid off. If/when I get back in the game, I’d like to tell stories on the level of ItsTheReal. The love, care, and commitment to excellence shines through. Nah fa real fa real!

It never felt like the blogs (or The Blog Era) ever got their deserved send off. No eulogy for the sites lost, no statements for next moves, no FAQs for where to find some semblance of the content source and community that had become a cornerstone of our daily lives…nothing. I don’t know what I...Read full review »

As someone who was a frequent visitor of blogs like 2DopeBoyz (and who saw the work of ItstheReal), this podcast is a fun trip down memory lane. It’s cool to hear the stories of the people whose passion and commitment turned them from fans on the outside into major tastemakers who put a spotlight...Read full review »

Jeff and Eric have done a masterful job of peeling back all of the layers in narrating this seminal part of rap’s history that might have otherwise slipped through the cracks and gone unreported, if not for them. Each episode is better than the one before it. Much respect also to Greg Mayo who...Read full review »

Awesome podcast. Documents a critical time in the evolution of music/rap music to a digital/streaming world, but through the eyes of the consumer who for a brief window had a voice through the blogs loud enough to alter the landscape.

I honestly listen to podcast all day, every day. 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Yes, holidays included… This will go down as one of the best limited series podcast ever. As an artist pre and during the blog era, I was skeptical on how this era would be captured. Foolish me, The Blog Era podcast is one of the most well researched, documented and factually told from an Artist, Industry and cultural POV. Hats off to the team, this is a major win! Well done.

This covers everything during the era and really brings me back. I have one critique, the scoring of the podcast is horrible. Sounds very out of place and overly dramatic, from spaghetti western sounds to 80's cheesy hip hop beats, it needs to go. It takes me out of focusing on the interviews...Read full review »

It’s refreshing when quality journalism and story telling meets the things you love most. I’ve been a fan of almost everything these two and they’re team have done, this being the best yet. What’s missing across so many platforms is research and context. This pod has the gift of both. The Blog Era was an era indeed and it’s great to have it thoughtfully retold. Salute to hard work and 10,000 hours. The episodic series on Hulu is next?

Well produced show with good interviews that glorify and contribute to the complete downfall of hip hop music. Listen to the pod if you found out about rap from a YouTube link. All others steer clear
