Scarborbough Diet and Osteoporosis
Listen now
Description
In this video, Dr. Doug Lucas discusses a study on the alkaline diet and its impact on bone health. The study focuses on a specific group of vegetables and fruits that are believed to be more alkaline and beneficial for bone health. The results of the study show that the alkaline diet reduces acidity and urinary calcium excretion. However, when looking at bone turnover markers, it is found that the alkaline diet actually worsens bone turnover by suppressing bone building. The conversation concludes that while fruits and vegetables are important for overall health, the alkalinity of the diet does not have a significant impact on bone health.
