Story and production are excellent, but really the only thing to say is that Carrie Mulligan is absurdly brilliant. Like so many other QCode podcasts, this is a winner.

it's a different world. Excellent show, acting, sounds. I often leave fiction series podcast after the first episodes because of how bad and boring the acting gets. Not this one. well done!Read full review »

Hands down. Love Leah.

The acerbic narrator finds her whole life derailed when she’s forced to house her sisters who are mediums able to communicate with the dead. How these women come to play a pivotal role in the emerging women’s movement of the time is a key part of the story and is informed by the eldest sister’s...Read full review »

This is an immersive and captivating story and cast. The humour interwoven into the chaotic and thrilling journey really makes for an excellent day of binge listening ♥️ thank you

I laughed out loud several times, while listening to the first few episodes. Great work!

The story is great, the voice actors are great, but the sounds clash too much, at some point I can't understand what the actor is saying since the background effect noises are too loud!Read full review »

Great storytelling and audio! The best I’ve heard in a long time. I know ad’s are important, but I wish the episodes were just a bit longer, or the ad’s were cut back a bit. Episodes are so short once you account for all the ad time.
summrose12 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 08/16/23
Carey Mulligan is divine, her voice work is amazing. Phoebe Tonkin is wonderful too. The story is obviously loosely based on true events. Some might not like the modern language & it can be a tad vulgar. But that didn’t bother me. The sounds were great! Definitely worth a listen.
Kelly Brianna via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 08/15/23
The lead character has the most nauseating voice and the hollow story goes absolutely nowhere. Could easily have been condensed into 1 episode
lucy.jayne.frost via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 08/10/23
A genuinely fascinating audio drama, with a stellar cast. It’s clear a lot of research went into forming this story of the pioneers of the spiritualist movement (with artistic license of course). The story is a spellbinding saga, and in the hands of Mulligan and the talented production team, it...Read full review »

Now I’m listening to more. I’ve been listening before but never quite found anything so interesting. This is my favorite so far still.
VOCHAA via Apple Podcasts · Thailand · 07/31/23
Yes the idea is interesting, and the acting is decent, and clearly someone paid for production, but it sounds like everyone involved is high on nose candy. Relax, take it down a notch…

The historical anachronisms just take you right out of it. Whoever wrote this has zero concept of the lexicons of the time, or even it’s historical context. Really disappointing as normally I adore qcode.
Nutherun via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 07/12/23
Finally, an immersive audio experience that was more than just sighing and exasperated noises! This was the best QCode story in a while, please keep it up!
Rockette8 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/09/23
… why so much swearing? It’s so unnecessary frankly, doesn’t really add to the story does it? Great acting obviously and well scripted
Federilli via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 07/08/23
Entertaining but very loosely based on the real story. It helps if you are unfamiliar with the actual sisters and what they did. What was with the dialogue and the accents? Very distracting.
Hope2002 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/08/23
Sound design was amazing, voice actors were compelling and pulled me in (especially the voice of Leah), and much like the crowds of Rochester I was left wanting more. To those wondering about the theme music, it’s a classical staple, “Danse Macabre” by Camille Saint-Saint-Saëns. One of my...Read full review »

I love so much about this. The characters, the story, the theme tune. A tight script well performed.

Love the audio styling. Very entertaining story, would recommend.

This is now added to my favorites from QCode! This sits up with Borrasca and Last Known Position as one of your best! Which I became a subscriber after Borrasca, so that’s a huge compliment. I loved that you didn’t leave it on a huge cliffhanger just in case there isn’t a season 2. Everything was...Read full review »

Had to switch off. Unlikeable characters and half way through and already had some references to how awful men are. Can’t take the constant pushing of woke agendas.

that’s all. this podcast is dope.

I have absolutely fallen in love with this show. The acting is deserving of an award. Carey Mulligan is amazing. I can’t wait till the next episode comes out. I wish I found it later so I could binge and not have to wait, otherwise amazing one of the best shows Ive ever listened to.

Wow
Found out about this on McKenna Grace Instagram and checked it out. I’ve never listened to things like this. I am hooked and love it. I even paid the subscription to see what else they have. Amazing!

Foxes of Hydesville might be the best sounding and best produced QCODE podcast yet. Cary Mulligan is perfect as the lead and our narrator, taking us through an immersive world of spiritualism and skepticism. The overreliance on modern profanity, however, pulls me out of the story almost...Read full review »

It’s so good. I keep waiting for another episode to come out. It’s been a while since I enjoyed a story as much as this one since Edith or the one about the alternative universe. I forget the title. Anyway. Bravo!!! Love it.

I’m only two episodes in so far but I am loving this podcast. While I would happily listen to Carey Mulligan read literally anything including the phone book, I am so thrilled she has such a beautifully written script to work with. The pacing is perfection and the comedic timing is spot on. A+ in...Read full review »

Adult language and slang is unecessary and takes you out of the historic believability of this important true story.
BlavatskyFan via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 05/14/23
The pros-the voice acting is really good and so is the sound quality. The cons- the fact that you are doing a period piece based in the 1800s and using modern language that none of the characters would even be using. I am all for creative liberties but it was really hard to get into. For example...Read full review »

Good story so far but why does the one daughter have a British accent and the rest of the family has an American accent?
