So sad, yet not surprised, about the global decline in the sounds, the bird call etc, the Biophony of the woodlands. And so glad to have learned the word and its meaning, and the impact human activity has had on the natural world.

Often disappointing - they sound like they should be good, but are often too superficial. One on electric cars is a good example. They fail to even discuss the question of where the electricity comes from - they sort of assume that it is zero carbon. For people who live in areas where there is...Read full review »

Have just listened to the first two episodes of the three-part series “Weight of the world” which recounts the recognition of the impending climate crisis from the standpoint of the Australian scientific community and its battle with popular and political resistance over the decades. Killing the Skydancer was a brilliant series (devastating but brilliant)

The podcast focused on the emotional question if “how intelligent is an octopus”. This is one question yes, but my questions would be “what does an octopus eat”? And “where will that food come from”. If we have to send out a fishing fleet to catch 10tonnes of fish to produce 1tonne of octopus,...Read full review »

My experience with this podcast was far from satisfactory. It lacked the key elements necessary for an engaging and memorable listening journey. Regrettably, the hosts' monotonous delivery, coupled with subpar production quality, absence of structure, unnecessarily lengthy episodes, and...Read full review »

A wonderful podcast. I learn something new every episode. The breadth of topics is wide. One of my favorite series. Thank you very much to the production team.

This brilliant podcast finds its subjects in films, politics and health as well as the natural world - all in compact 15 minute packages. Varied and always informative.

I much enjoy this podcast, which focuses on the intersection of science and policy/politics. It covers very interesting topics - recent gems include the theory of 15-minute cities; and how political leaders understood and used science data during COVID. Designed for an intelligent general...Read full review »

As a factual and science orientated podcast, I found the analysis of the concept a little wierd and light weight. And surprisingly there was no mention of, or discussion about, the Climate Crisis as a possible rational driver behind the concept. Of course, localisation to reduce one‘s carbon...Read full review »

This used to be a great podcast series a few years ago, but it’s become so dumbed down that it can be painful to listen too, especially when it’s hosted by Madaleine Finley. And even when an episode turns out to be interesting, it’s too short to meaningfully cover the topic.

I’ve been listening to Science Weekly for a long time. It started going downhill after Alok Jha left the show. It has interesting episodes every now and then but seems mostly focused on topics that are politically hot at the moment. Case in point: the week after the 2022 Nobel prizes were...Read full review »

Internet in Iran was interesting but biased and in some parts just bad reporting and worse science. Not the first time for the Guardian. Still going to listen but listeners should realise some shows are just soap boxing

Pretty basic and too often lacking in depth. It’s not a bad source for the latest conservation/environmentalism news, but expect overviews rather than deep exploration. Too much time is wasted with bumper music, foley effects, and other forms of padding. If you have a strong knowledge base of the...Read full review »

Science weekly has gone massively downhill it the last few years, since the pandemic the focus has shifted away from general science and more towards health, now nearly every episode is mainly reporting news that concerns health and drugs

1) if you label yourself a science show, don’t talk about Russian - Ukrainian info wars. No pretext of science at all 2) DEFINITELY don’t be a buncha British people trying to analyze US politics. We actually have free speech here, but that doesn’t make it in good taste.

I understand scientists need government funding to live, but at least don’t give up the principles of science. Invest the problem please! Not tell the factor you like but cover the factor you don’t like! This is real disinformation!

Listening to this podcast discussing weight loss. The “scientist” claims those who exercise burn the same amount of calories as those who sit in the sofa. Huh? The title and angle of this episode annoyed me. Tourette’s is not something you can “catch” of a website (or anywhere else) and suggesting it in the title made me feel like you are assuming your listeners to be pretty stupid. Love the content though you must sort out the adverts. Some are much louder then the content which is very annoying and damaging to the hearing and also sometimes the same spot is stitched 2x in a row to the same piece of content.
