In today’s society, the sad truth is that diet culture is everywhere, including in the church, which means you’ll probably run into food lies or diet culture comments coming from the pulpit. While church leadership most likely isn’t intending to offend or trigger anyone in the church body, it’s really important that we understand that many pastors just aren’t aware of the implications of their comments and we learn how to either address or disregard and move past those triggering statements. In today’s episode, I’m joined by Nyla Wiebe, host of the Intuitive Eating with Jesus Podcast and one of our very own team members here at the Joy-Filled Eater.  She and I talk about some of the comments we’ve heard about food and body image in the church and how to untangle the mess of food lies that we sometimes run into. You’ll learn how to recognize diet culture red flags within the church (and Christianity as a whole) and how to navigate working through them on your journey to food freedom and better body image.
