Doesn't work
The thing with "the old" Talk Show was that Dan Benjamin was able to keep Gruber on track. Benjamin was the moderator, the host of the show, and Gruber the sidekick. Well, Gruber decided to be the host on the new The Talk Show, and the result is unfortunately not very flattering for Mr. Gruber, who apparently thinks that whatever he is interested in, we will be interested in too since he's John Gruber. You see - Gruber is a rare talent. He's a extremely gifted writer and also holds his own very well when doing a presentation or talk at an event. But a podcast that runs an hour long? Sorry, this does not work for me. The money may be sweeter now for Mr. Gruber, but this is very likely to be the first, and the last, edition of the new Talk Show that I listen to.Read full review »

I like John Gruber and read his blog religiously. However, without Dan Benjamin to reign-in his narcissism and tastefully tap his enthusiasms, this next-gen Talk Show sounds more like Gruber and his pals giggling it up in a keep-out-of-our-tree-fort coffee klatch than a listenable podcast.
