While Lucy and Jason are on vacay, in a very special episode of The 'Cast of Us the characters from Welcome to the Apocalypse (Podcastica's improv show) have taken over! They've gotten their hands on the first episode of the Walking Dead and are seeing how it compares to their experience in the apocalypse, what lessons they can take from the show, and and who's hospital gown was more revealing.  Links: Welcome to the Apocalypse...

It’s the Governor! Both Lucy and I were surprised at how enjoyable it was to revisit this character. And we had fun trying to imagine whether we’d have been more like Andrea in this situation (intrigued and impressed with the Governor and Woodbury) or like Michonne (suspicious as f#$k).  Links: Penitentia trailer (starring Frost actor Glenn Stanton): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dm2LeDJlN3U Jason interviews Dallas Roberts (Milton):...

It’s a favorite episode, especially remembered for that badass no-dialog opening where they’re killing zeds like a well-oiled team. But we noticed a lot of different ways this episode starts to feel more like what The Walking Dead became at its peak, tonally, with characterizations, and in other little ways. It’s a great one.  Links: Join Lucy, Jason, Karen, Peter, and David for drinks in Glasgow! Wed July 17 at The Dram https://www.facebook.com/events/1534131824143933/Zedhead T-Shirts...

And we come to the end of season 2…. and Hershel’s farm… and Rick’s sanity? And of course this is such a special episode, in part because it’s a fantastic season finale, but most of all for me (Jason) because I got to be a zed in it! And Lucy and I are SO pleased to be joined by Gracie Lou of Under the Comic Covers, who helped me get on the show and who was right there with me over four thrilling nights of filming. So join us as we talk through this season 2 finale and reminisce about our...

Jason and guest cohosts Randy and Sam all hold Mad Max: Fury Road as one of the best action movies ever (it’s Jason’s all-time favorite). So we were all excited for the sequel, Furiosa. Did it live up to Fury Road? No, but it was thrilling, funny, artful, imaginative, brutal, thought-provoking, well-acted, visually stunning, and yes, had some problems too.  Links: Check out Randy on the zombie improv podcast, Welcome to the Apocalypse:...

Yech, the one where Andrea leaves suicidal Beth alone with a knife after promising Maggie she’d keep watch over her, and Lori argues that Andrea should stick with “women’s work”. Back to the rewatch! This is the first ep with Glen Mazzara as showrunner, and I remember being worried whether the show would still be good after Darabont left, and then being relieved that it was great. But do we still feel that way….?  Announcement: Karen, David, and I (Jason) are excited to be headed to Scotland this summer to hang out with Lucy and Peter, and we’d love to meet any of you guys who are in the area or can get there. This ep we’re covering the new Alex Garland dystopian action movie, Civil War, in theaters now. On one hand this movie is right up this podcast’s alley: it feels post-apocalyptic and it’s a harrowing, thought-provoking story with great characters, thrilling sequences, and a lot of heart. On the other hand, it hits so close to home in the most disturbing way, and it provokes political discussion that might not be everyone’s cup of tea. We usually avoid talking politics on the podcast. I like...

Here’s part two of your feedback for the finale of The Ones Who Live. I don’t know if I’ve ever podcasted on something that hit emotional beats so well and so intensely like this while asking us to swallow some pretty ridiculous logistical plot points, and that made for some varied and passionate feedback from you guys :) We love it! As is the way with TWD sometimes, this episode made us care a little more about a character before killing her off! A fitting end though, and some great nostalgia in this ep with the return of Gabriel, and some wonderful lightness with Rick and Michonne pretty much on a post-apocalyptic honeymoon. :) Next up: Listener feedback for TWD: The Ones Who Live S1E5 “Become”.
