Content & guests are brilliant A little work on how the host responds & shows empathy could be more valuable & allow the story to go deeper into the guests heart & souls as some of these experiences are very intense life experiences..

I love everything this man puts out. We are due for baby number 2 in July and are naming him Julian 😂 not after Julian but definitely hasn’t put us off the name, quite the opposite.

I added this to my library a few months back and only really started getting into it very recently, I’m captivated. Such a vast range of topics and intellectual conversations. Would love to hear more trauma based discussions.

There's two things that need to be worked on. When one of your guests says something funny (or something they think is funny), don't do a fake polite laugh with them, it sounds weird. It's quite OK to keep silent. The other is, once the guest has answered a question, don't swiftly...Read full review »

So glad to have found these episodes after finishing the ones from Extremes.... some very random, interesting topics that is cool to hear about - especially the abandoned spacecraft story!

The host needs a crash course in grammar.
NicholasNamus via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 04/28/24
The subjects are always interesting but the host needs some work. It’s almost like he is trying too hard to put on a fake interviewers voice. It comes across as condescending and disingenuous. The questioning of the Martin Bryant neighbours showed the host’s immaturity. Weird one liner responses...Read full review »

Great podcast, great editing, great narrating and Julians voice is great too!

Particularly the episode about Martin Bryant and his neighbours. Whole episode was the host and guests banging on about how weird and creepy Martin Bryant was when he was a young child/ teenager. Sounds like they were reliving the good old days of bullying and ostracising him well before there...Read full review »

I used to listen to this series by Julian when he worked for vice. I never understood why it didn’t make anymore seasons.. I used to think wow that was such a great podcast I can’t believe it got discontinued… until I found this new series… so glad to have it back. Such a great concept, I love...Read full review »

This podcast concept is particularly brilliant because each episode has a different subject and a different story teller. Don’t listen to the haters. I like the music and your vibe. Keep up the good work.

Really enjoy all these stories and how the host asks the questions, can’t wait to hear more

Very interesting. Entertaining and informative. Thanks. Nice to get away from true crime.

Have you listened to yourself back? The condescending tone is crazy.
madelins via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 04/08/24
This podcast is so well done! It’s a series of unrelated interviews, and the narrator is well versed and gives a great introduction, synopsis as needed, then asks really good questions of the interview subject. Julian has a great voice and the audio is crisp and clear. Episodes don’t have to...Read full review »

I am loving this show - the content, the speakers, the host, the honesty and authenticity. But please reduce the number of times you play your intro music - it’s really annoying! Once or twice is more than enough. And please turn down the volume of your music - it’s too loud in comparison to the...Read full review »

Continuing to reference a 20 week birth, and subsequent loss of life soon after, as a “miscarriage” multiple times, is totally insensitive and insightless. The tone of these episodes is casual and often feels blasé, not at all in line with the matters being discussed.

Just embarrassing listening to your condescending questions have you listened to yourself before posting? You had a opportunity to interview a very eloquent person that has had to overcome and live with such a horrific tragedy. Your “yeah” “bro ish” comments so embarrassing to Australians so...Read full review »

I think your content is fabulous and your ideas unique . I think with some time and experience Jason might let his voice relax and flow into the questions. I love this podcast. The fascinating stories of life experiences not often told. Each person opens up to a new level and you get to really experience ‘what is was like’. Thanks for making this! From New Zealand.

Each episode is a fantastic listen - the stories are truly astounding. Very enjoyable listening. I also love the care that Jason has for his interviewees.

I made up my mind to listen to this podcast with an open mind. I’m a little lost for words by the stunning lack of insight Roberta has for the crimes Carl committed and the lives he destroyed through his trafficking of drugs. Towards the end of your show, when asked about her values and whether...Read full review »

Each story is so fascinating and ones I wouldn’t ordinarily go for (I’m a true crime fanatic) - but this is so engaging and interesting. It’s broadened my horizons and perspectives! Thank you for bringing us such good content which is brilliantly produced

Interesting stories with good content, however that ‘American’ twang in your accent is very annoying!

Interesting and fun content. Julian is a terrific interviewer/podcaster and if you are so inclined, there’s a perk of an Aussie accent to boot. 👍 to weekly episodes.

Started listening to this podcast, starting with the Titanic one and it was so interesting. I have gone on to listen to previous episodes and just loving the unusual, but interesting stories from real people. I also love the podcaster’s voice and his way he interviews the people involved.
