Michael and Sarah tackle topics on which we have a kind of cultural agreement - mythmaking, in a way. For example, "The Godfather" is about how a story of destructive masculinity inevitably guts an entire family has become in our collective imaginations a story of independence (alt: how a project made entirely for mercenary ends by every participant is now held up as "best film ever"). They're casual and facetious and yeah, sometimes that strikes an off-chord when it's a particularly sensitive topic. They also do a lot of research and go into great detail as they chart the historical creation of our conventional wisdom (ex: Columbine).
