Think it’s hilarious that these podcasters think they deserve money we can just watch the Dateline episode for free

This is my gold standard for true crime podcasts

Ads
28 min podcast, half of it is ads, and it mostly weird things that have been solved, not conspiracies.

Well researched and well presented, I can always count on Casefile to deliver something good — I do wish they covered more Australian cases like they used to but it’s always a good listen regardless.

Im a long time subscriber to Casefiles, the early eps got me hooked and the factual nature kept me here however paying for old episodes to be re-released as new ones and for qna’s is tedious. Just feels like there isn’t the same passion for the show there used to be.

I used to listen for every episode the moment they came out, but over years it became more and more disappointing, unsolved murders, no suspects, and it seems the episodes I enjoyed are now premium. It would be great to mention if it’s a SOLVED or UNSOLVED crime as I’d prefer to not listen to...Read full review »

Episode 279 was excellent, would love more like this!

This is THE best true crime podcast. Just true information no opinions no views nothing. Tells it as it is. Just what you want. Love it.

This used to be my no. 1 true crime podcast but now it’s just adding attention to the American cases and ignoring NZ/AU cases like everyone else. I could forgive this because the storytelling is great BUT there’s too many ads and it just makes for a consistently interrupted listening experience,...Read full review »

I enjoy most of this podcast but (1) I skip the child victim episodes, and (2) the ad for Tachi Palace Resort makes me want to throw my phone across the room. I can’t skip it fast enough.
ILikeMostThings via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/13/24
I fail to see any journalistic quality to this podcast. It’s just story retelling with a voice tone/cadence for dramatic intent. I feel voyaristic listening to these stories.
Strengthyena via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 04/13/24
Nothing is better researched, written, or spoken as well as Case File.

Is this now a strictly child rape podcast? What the heck

I love listening to the podcast and rate it above any other, but I would like to hear less child victim episodes.

This is truly an incredible podcast. Every episode is written well and narrated professionally. I love that cases are told in great detail and that sentences of the convicted are detailed. I’m honestly almost addicted to the sound of the narrator’s voice on top of everything else I love about...Read full review »

I quite like how these are read but they are lengthy and repetitive and I find myself fwd mid way to get to the conclusion !

Straight to the point, focused and factual. Obsessed with the narrators voice! My fav podcast!!!

Used to love this podcast, but like a classic TV series, after a couple of seasons, they start to feel forced. Same with case file, it’s tired and the cases are now tedious, boring and uninteresting. I was a paid subscriber until today, I’m cancelling. All you get for your $6 week is next weeks...Read full review »

One of my fave podcasts, but don’t listen to all of them because most are very graphic. Wish you could go easier on the gore and abuse of children.

Love this podcast but too many child victims :(
Leb201928 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/05/24
There is nothing more frustrating than getting to the last five minutes of the story only to hear that it continues to be unsolved. Episodes with unsolved crimes should have warnings so that they can be skipped, or that listeners can adjust their expectations.

I think this show is a whole bag of beans and more, even though a lot of the content is a little more than morbid at times the way the episodes are structured and hosted make things a lot more enjoyable. You can tell a lot of work goes into researching and writing these episodes so to everyone...Read full review »

Over the past couple of seasons, this podcast has shifted to covering a lot of cases focusing on children victims. It’s uncomfortable listening to the narrator so flatly and robotically discuss details of crimes committed against children like murder, sexual assault and parental neglect. I’ve...Read full review »

Casey, I am a linguist. You used to take longer pauses between sentences and paragraphs. These pauses help the listener process what they’ve heard. This issue can’t be mitigated by slowing the recording down. Please mind those gaps! And let me know if you need a free linguist consultation!

I have been listening to true crime podcasts for a decade and have been listening to Casefile for 7 years. Nothing comes close. Nothing. This is the best there is at it and I’m not sure what’s even close.

Great podcast but not worth paid subscription anymore. Still releasing old episodes as new ones and because episodes are slow to drop, I’ve discovered other awesome podcasts to subscribe to instead.

Note to narrator - every single sentence you utter has exactly the same inflections. Check out the more successful podcasts, add your own personality, and you have a hit.

Have run out of cases as I’ve listened to them all. None before 2016. Such a great podcast, do you offer anything else?

Very interesting cases but I’m sure it’s AI voice. Why say 3 April rather than the human way ‘third’ April?

With the original anonymous host, this was the best crime podcast — 5 stars, hands down. Well researched with humane storytelling. I’ve just discovered this podcast lately, it’s absolutely fascinating. I’m wading my way through all the episodes, I’ll be soo disappointed when I’ve listened to them all. I can’t recommend this podcast enough. Brilliant

I listen to every episode within minutes of when it comes out. The narration is great, I appreciate that the host/researchers don’t bother family members for soundbytes they can use, and this goes into more detail on cases than any other podcast I’ve listened to.

Really good voice to listen to! Good storytelling! My ears just love to listen. I have followed this podcast from the beginning and I hope you don’t stop🫵🏻 Great work around the topics ♥️

Ads
The quality of the show is one thing, but the ads are getting ridiculous. Why do I want to listen to explosions and ppl dying in the commercial breaks? They’re getting longer and more frequent and frankly more annoying. The podcast is chaotic enough, high quality, as it is… but the ads have just...Read full review »

As a paying subscriber, I want a proper episode to listen to. The Q&A’s feel like a cop out way to not have to produce proper content. After listening to over 100 episodes of this podcast, I've noticed subtle undertones of racism. White people are often spoken about with empathy, and white victims are portrayed with a backstory told in favorable language, which tends to make them more likable. Throughout the podcast,...Read full review »

I’ve listen to this podcast for awhile now and really liked how the information is presented but all of the Child victims episodes are super hard to listen to.
