Vocabulary is too hard for beginners
I'm a chinese and downloaded this podcast just by curious. wocabulary are definitely too hard for chinese beginners. e.g. the word "liu huang" = Sulfur, appears in episode 100. Well, this is not a very common word in daly life, neither in English nor in Chinese. Most of us can live happy without saying "sulfur" in a whole year, aren't we? Also some words are not popular, only be regional. same in episode 100, they mentioned hot spring as " Pao Tang". Well this "Pao Tang" is a adopted phase from Japan to Taiwan, and probably this phrase can only be understood in Taiwan. "Tang" means "hot water" in ancient Chinese like centuries ago, and Japanese adopted this meaning since then, now it been adopted back to Taiwan. What goes around, comes around, hey? In present, "Tang" in Chinese mean soup, which is a little different. Anyway, In mainland china it's just called "wen quan", "wen"=hot, "quan"= spring, it's that easy. But the rest of this podcast so far I found are as great as other comments say, slow and clear pronunciation, accurately and correctly explanations. Also I garantee to you guys that He is definitely a master of Chinese, his speaking skills, the word and phase he uses, all as perfect as a native chinese speaker. You will learn a lot from him. One of the best Chinese lesson podcast, recomms to every Chinese lovers.Read full review »
