Occasionally very enjoyable show, let down by two of the hosts disagreeing with or shouting down the third guy (the one who says all the interesting stuff) on juvenile, easy grounds. guests are always too American to tolerate

i’ve been listening to the “cabin” series, two episodes left and i’m trying to make them last as long as possible because it feels so good to hear. this series coincided with my own moving (back) to maine, and the fear of loss of connection that comes with such a thing. we are gonna be okay. also...Read full review »

I recently found this podcast and enjoy these guys, really dig the format and content. Have listened back to 2017 and the catalogue has lots of hits, couple of episodes don’t stick but...overall thanks a bunch keep it up.

I listened to the cabin series on Ted K. and found it a boring, shallow, bad faith reading. Based on the show description I expected a open minded attempt to understand the ideas and motivations of K. The hosts keep saying they don’t understand what he’s trying to say, or complaining about the...Read full review »

Hands down one of the best shows out there. Sincere and heartfelt and honest and funny without being saccharine or cloying. Fantastic

Relentlessly human, heartfelt, and honest.

Few, if any, podcasts reward listeners' attention the way this podcast does. I find myself coming back, over and over and over, finding new depth and insight each time I re-encounter existing episodes. New episodes are delicious; sometimes gourmet, sometimes comfort or soul food, always...Read full review »

Rather than try and avoid the cliches of an effusively saccharine review, I'm going to lean right into it. That they share their friendship in such honest dialogues has honestly changed how I approach and think about my own personal relathionships. Film, love, democracy, literature,...Read full review »

I discovered TRP in 2017 and I'm ashamed I'm only reviewing now as we approach 2020 and the episodes have become less frequent this year. It's the sort of podcast that is easy to relate to, yet it's DENSE with a wide range content and references. There's always something to...Read full review »

Relentless picnic makes me also feel okay about myself, that there are other people out there that think like me and want to talk like I do and think like I do. Wish I could listen to this everyday / just talk with you all. Thank you.

Real good podcast. The cave and wreckage. Are in a 3 month rotation. I wish they engaged in more of a political debate sometimes. When they talk politics they often come off as one sided and arrogant.

I’ve listened to 4 or 5 episodes at this point, with my first entry being a discussion about Strauss, the philosopher based on recommendation. I really liked the episode and picked the top episode on iTunes which was almost completely devoid of specific mention of any particular philosophy, and...Read full review »

And only occasionally the cringe-inducing self-love of the tryhard part of the party, near the beginning, when all the first-years are desperate to impress the faculty. More often the atmosphere is that of the later portion of the party, when everyone is well-lubricated enough to relax. All the...Read full review »

This is the best podcast. There is no fluff, no “housekeeping”, no ads, just amazingly rich content ranging from awkward impressions and skits to in depth conversations about the state of the world. All 3 hosts have a knack for pulling meaning out of the mundane. They are profoundly adept at...Read full review »

Shockingly smart, extremely funny, and legit vulnerable critical analysis. Imagine your freshman philosophy TA passing around a joint and beers but staying lucid and that’s kinda what this feels like. Slate’s Culture Gabfest doesn’t even come close.

You know all those Medium artles with titles that begin with 'Why' or 'How', and then they speak to the question in a very direct way that somehow tells you nothing? This is sort of the opposite of that -- looking at the thing from a million different angles, never quite answering a question...Read full review »

I fell deeply in love with this podcast after listening to episode Ep. 28 Ragnarok about a couple months ago. I don’t listen to this to get ”smarter” or to have something to talk about. It exudes and inspires playfulness, empathy, and inquisitiveness and that’s difficult and enough. I’m at a stage with this podcast that I’ve never gotten to with any other. Choosing a podcast is a problem of making good use of your limited time. There are many podcasts in the world, some of them very fine, and all of them competing for your attention alongside everything else you do. You can’t enjoy it all. You can’t even sample a respectable fraction of it. As a...Read full review »

This is the best podcast going right now. These three seekers will be your guides along the basket-emptying byways of the relentless picnic, but they will not coddle you. The Relentless Picnic is unlike any other podcast I listen to. Essentially, three youngish, well-read intellectual American guys irreverently, humorously and digressively improv, debate and confabulate over current affairs, politics, art and ideas. 'Word Alert' was one of my favourites. After...Read full review »
