Too much background music and audio is too fuzzy.

Best show on the current and also the past airwaves. Hundreds of Millions of listeners mostly behind the wall, lol. I absolutely miss my “manager of the star” Howard Lapides , he was the best I and wish to make his last wish come true with Legend Burl Barer and get to make the full feature...Read full review »

I love Berl and there’s no true crime writer with greater integrity. I could do without all the sound effects but I guess it’s part of the radio thing. Berl lets his political and religious leanings come through (he’s a Baha’i follower and there are some occasional plugs for that) but he’s not...Read full review »

With so many excellent true crime podcasts it is easy to overlook one of the unique originals- Burl Barer is one of the best and most popular true crime writers, and when he and other true crime writers start talking shop it is a slice of true crime heaven - plus what other true crime show has...Read full review »

Burl is a famous best selling true crime author, so you expect him to behave like one - oh, he CAN be serious, insightful and compelling - but he often chooses to portray himself as bizarrely eccentric— even silly. HOWEVER - when he suddenly becomes the same “voice” we hear when reading his true...Read full review »

Gee whiz, don’t you vet your guests? That guy made extraordinary claims without challenge. No proof, no specifics; nothing. Little kids being murdered underground by Dallas elites. Sounds about as believable as QAnon.

Legendary Barer is the Jewish Hunter S. Thomspson of podcasts…. along with his attorney, Mark, he takes us on a toad’s tour of true crime….

It could have been interesting but there was too much background noise: eating, slurping, rattling paper, some kind odd mechanical noises. Too bad - I liked the topic.

This podcast has great subject matter and some interesting guest. Unfortunately the host, Burl Barer constantly interrupts them. What makes it that much worse is A) He usually has a stupid corny joke or comment, which is never funny and B) He has the worst raspy smokers voice from probably...Read full review »

I’m from Australia and just found this podcast by accident and so glad I did..this is a funny entertaining podcast. I usually don’t like American podcasts but I am rapt in this one. 10/10

I was very glad to find a true crime book podcast , but not overly impressed with this. The background noise ( some type of fizzy noise ) , and there are too many people interrupting the author while he’s trying to talk about his book. A bit disappointing, as I know Burl Barer is an author...Read full review »

......from the background noises: squeaky swinging door sounds, heavy objects scraping across the floor, popping sounds like bottles opening, etc.

What’s going on with this series? I listened to the beginning of two episodes. They start with a promo/commercial at full audio. Then the podcast starts and the audio extremely low and of very poor quality. Unlistenable. So weird.

Yikes! Is the guy eating his lunch? I had to stop listening at about 8 minutes in because I couldn’t stand the throat and mouth sounds. It was enough to make me feel queasy.

I listened to your interview with Dan Zupansky tonight, and finally found your podcast. I am thrilled. Many hours of great listening, to make my driving to and fro, much more enjoyable. You are a true legend Burl.

The main interviewer (sounds quite elderly) needs lay off the cigarettes and to learn to use the cough button. His frequent bouts of mid-sentence getting out of breath, and the nasty phlegm noises are very distracting.

I love you guys but all the misogynistic men on this episode are so rudely making so much background noise when Rebecca is trying to talk - and I’m only saying misogynistic because I have not noticed that on episodes with men being interviewed...

Great stories for sure, but Burl is too loud and obnoxious. If he can take it down 10 notches, this is be a winning podcast. He does this same stuff on other shows and I just go past an episode when he is featured.
