Thank you for making this podcast! It’s just what I needed: normal, everyday conversations on relatable topics slowed down a bit for those learning Mandarin! I love it and have been recommending it to friends!

I think the format for this podcast is great and they keep their conversations pretty relevant and interesting. However, the husband’s pronunciation can be abysmal. He ignores tones most of the time and it isn’t properly corrected, which is a shame since folks listen to this podcast to improve...Read full review »

These in my opinion are the best, out of all podcasts for Mandarin out there, for 3 reasons: 1. Karen has the best English accent I ever heard from a native Chinese girl. So, it is much easier to understand her - I am not American (but I an immigrant living in Canada). 2. The second guy is...Read full review »

The format of this podcast is brilliant in so many ways. I first admit I haven’t tried to access the study material and transcript which might elevate my learning even further. So let me focus on what I have benefited from. Each week Karen and Bailie have a focus topic. They start by introducing...Read full review »

I had finished Duolingo’s Chinese module and moved onto Dot. I’ve also done Beginner 1+2 writing classes and know about 1000 characters. I’m lucky enough to have a language partner too. I struggled to find good Chinese listening material - what I’d found was either way too beginner, or way too...Read full review »

I’ve listened to a podcast audio and found it perfect for my level of Chinese. So I signed up and paid to access the lesson notes. However I still can’t access them. I keep being sent to the page asking for money. I hope this is just a local glitch that can be fixed. I’m using an iPhone 11.

When your husband says a word in English that he doesn’t know in Chinese can you please say it in Chinese? I hate when he uses English and then we don’t learn how it would be translated. Thanks!

Love the atmosphere here. I feel like I learn a lot, and I can continue to listen, unlike more traditional learning approaches. Baowei is the best.

I love fhe format of both Chinese and English dialogue back and forth. It's just the best. You can listen at a much higher speaking level without losing the thread, and it really does feel immersive. Also the conversational tone is a lot of fun, and I always catch myself smiling or laughing...Read full review »

Most podcasts are either to easy and go over the basics of grammar and vocabulary or are to hard and are spoken completely in Chinese. This is very much a “chill” podcast. It talks about intermediate topics while still staying grounded in English allowing me to relax and learn. Great show!
Egood via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/11/21
You say a word, explain it... but don’t repeat it? You just move to the next one? No way I’ll remember this way. Cool words, but maybe learn a little about language teaching... repeating a word a few times and giving a sample sentence afterwards would be way better

I’m an intermediate speaker, and I was worried this pod would be just for beginners. But it has a lot of useful contemporary vocabulary and grammar. It is a great supplement to learning Chinese (or maintaining previous learning)

I love that these podcasts mix just enough English so I can understand but don’t have overly-long explanations of grammar/vocabulary. Perfect listening exercises for someone who is advanced beginner/intermediate learner. Thank you!
