The Harlots podcast by Grim and Mild provides a riveting journey through the shadowy corridors of history, where the tales of those often whispered about but rarely acknowledged take center stage. Each episode, crafted with a storyteller's care for nuance and a historian’s eye for detail,...Read full review »

I really enjoy the unraveling of historical figures and especially those that get glossed over through history. Thanks for bringing these to life. Recently found this when I visited Grim and Mild. So glad I did.

I love this podcast! Such a seductive and intelligent retelling of history! Positivity addictive and thought provoking. Love the host and all the work that goes into making each episode.

This would be a five star podcast if the host would stop trying so hard. Her voice inflection, her tone-everything. Its just terrible. I listen because I love the historical aspect of this podcast, but she is just annoying.

I don’t really leave reviews but I am an avid listener! I actually burst out crying at the end of “Sisters in Arms”. I had never heard about those amazing women and was just very moved by the whole story. What an awful time and what brave, brave women (kids?!). Please keep doing what you are...Read full review »

I absolutely love this podcast. It’s a topic of history that’s so rarely covered, and Harlots dives in with wit and candor that makes it impossible not to enjoy listening. It’s also so fun to hear Jenna host this pod after hearing her on the Patreon-only episodes of Lore. Another hit from Grim...Read full review »

This might be the only podcast I’ve ever bothered to rate. I’ve plowed thru the available episodes & im ready for more! Noble Blood quality but better. Keep it up lil mama!! PS. Tell Mahnke to stick to producing

I am an avid listener of other Grim and Mild podcasts, but I feel like this one is a little off the mark. The content is interesting (though some of the anachronistic assumptions at the end of the Piers Gaveston episode had me rolling my eyes-have heard better podcast episodes about him), but the...Read full review »

There is so much to love about the little known history of the women behind powerful men. GennaRose is hilarious as she recounts the seductresses who played the game just right to win the power and influence most women were denied back in the day. So good! I look forward to every episode.

The stories are fascinating! If you’re in it for the great content, then this is your kind of show. My only complaint is sometimes the overly dramatic narrating gets super annoying. I usually have to pause and come back to it after a few minutes. It comes across as try-hard as opposed to...Read full review »

Informed podcast. Interesting, clearly delivered. Only downside is the energy level of the speaker is a little overboard. Love all Grim and Mild productions.

what an absolutely brilliant concept for a show, and it is executed so well! the narrator is simply wonderful, and the storytelling is detailed yet entertaining. cannot wait for more episodes to drop!

I think this podcast is great. Some people on here are saying it takes a while to find its footing, but I’ve started from the first episode and I’m thoroughly enjoying it. The narrative style is a little tongue-in-cheek, and if that’s not your thing there are plenty of other ways to find this...Read full review »

I’ve been stalking this podcast weekly to look for new episodes. This new series has me hooked for sure! My fiancé and I love to listen to Lore on our road trips, but this series is becoming our new favorite.
Redbeauty1 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/11/24
I went in to this wanting to not like it. But a few episodes in and I’m hooked. Generally I feel Manhke and the whole grim and mild thing is a little over saturated but I’m all for this. Good job.

The tone, the vocabulary, the drama! I didn’t know I wanted to hear any of this but I did~ please keep this style of narrative! I love it!

GennaRose nails it in the latest episode. I enjoyed listening to her walk through the episode on La Malinche, and I can’t wait for the next.

I can't say I "wanted to like" a podcast called Harlots, which is insulting to the subjects so far discussed. But it's a short and attention-getting title *sigh*. I listened b/c I like some of the other Grim & Mild podcasts and am interested in every one of the ladies featured...Read full review »

I love Grim and Mild, Aaron Manke is a genius and I am a huge fan of Noble Blood (Dana is my gal!!!) I really want this show to work and there was probably a team of people that wanted to try something “new” with the narration, but for the love of all things holy…tone it down a few notches. ...Read full review »

This series has the potential to be great but it does not fit into the other Grime & Mild programs . The narrator is too campy for the stories.

I had really high hopes for this. I love listening to other Grim & Mild podcasts. I personally just can’t vibe with the narrator’s voice :(
Kcm765 via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 12/24/23
Like other reviewers, I love the well researched content, even the campy writing but the narrator distracts from the story, making it hard to listen to.
C_Marie_M via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/22/23
I was so excited about this show, but yeah, it’s narrated in such an irritating way. Just toning it down would make a huge difference.

What an interesting podcast! I love the premise, and I love the stories. There’s been some complaints about the first episode’s narration and I hope that people listen to the second one and beyond. I love the history and content. The voice of the narrator’s overdramatized, over enunciated voice is like nails on a chalkboard.

The subject matter is really interesting, but I absolutely cannot get past the overdramatized narration! The voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me! The drama with which she enunciates & pauses is unbearable. Please find a new narrator so we can enjoy these stories!
pinkdolphingirl via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 11/16/23
I agree with another reviewer that the narrator didn’t need to try to use pauses and tone to add drama to this well researched, engrossing account. With that said, if I was making the first episode of a podcast I’m pretty sure I would be doing my best to get listeners interested in every way I...Read full review »

Love everything from grim and mild, it’s just the narrative style that I couldn’t get past. The voice and the oddly kindergarten-teacher-like-voice and style.

Was excited to listen because this is something that would seem very interesting, to me mixing history with intrigue. Right off the bat the narrator could not get out of her own way. I started listening to the first episode this morning. I was so excited to hear a new podcast from grim and mild because I love lore and the cabinet of curiosities and listen regularly. I’ve seen this a few times now. The content is interesting, but the narration is terrible. She over-enunciates everything. I keep thinking she has a hint of an accent that she is trying to hide by her speech patterns, which is just making everything she says so much more distracting.
Rolth via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 11/06/23
Unlistenable. Lasted 8 minutes in and had to stop. Never mind the delivery that swerves wildly between an overly caffeinated daycare reading to junior league instruction of terms like ‘harem’ (has this girl never cracked open a history book?), this podcast is pure cringe. As a fan of noble blood, this is equally as well produced, researched, and told. That being said, the narrator is way too over the top. It feels like very dramatic high school theatre performance. Gets a little grating. Her voice would be lovely without the dramatics. Tone it down a bit and...Read full review »

The presenter’s delivery is reminiscent of a 12 year old in their first drama class. Speak to me as if we’re at a table together talking about the Chinese concubines, not like you’re on stage in front of someone who has to give you a grade.
