Always enjoy this podcast, thank you! I listen to most of the episodes multiple times. Corgi updates, tippy taps, and opinions are delightful!

No offense to who she is as a person but is this really the right host for this podcast? She never reads. Every episode includes her reasoning for why she doesn’t read any more. She often just uses the same books for multiple topics. Sometimes she talks about a book before she finishes it and...Read full review »

The hosts are more concerned with the narrators than the actual books. Not useful for actual readers.

I just discovered this podcast maybe two weeks ago, and it is very binge worthy although my TBR list is growing exponentially! One of my fave book review podcasts now!

Sorry, Katie Horner, not so great. This is a great premise but too many personal life stories.

I love the show and never miss an episode. You cover a lot of books I’m interested in because there isn’t a horror podcast on book riot. I love thrillers too so your podcast is perfect. Just one thing though, Katie, PLEASE stop saying juices flowing!!!! 🤞🤞

I’ve been listening since episode 1 and I am a little surprised by some of the reviews. I’ve listened to many many poorly done true crime podcasts, so maybe my standards are low? Regardless, I’ve discovered a lot of new books and personally I don’t care if they don’t read “classics” from the 30’s...Read full review »

Just wanted to write and tell you how much I enjoy the enthusiasm of this podcast. I miss Rincey but love Nusrah as well. Thanks Ladies, you are doing a great job.

I love this podcast and I wish it was weekly! One of the few mystery BOOK podcasts I’ve found, rather than true crime. Really enjoy it, and lots of humour from the hosts
kairons77 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 02/08/21
This is a great podcast about mystery, thriller and scary books. It would get five stars from me except for this, I really enjoy Rinceys reviews but she throws the word “Like” in there so many times it’s distracting.
Kittens Mittens via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 10/15/20
Why is every other word from Rency “like”? It drives me crazy! If this was a drinking game you would be passed out in the first ten minutes if you were drinking every time she says like.

It’s so nice to have a good podcast talking about the spookier side of fiction! I wish we could do more horror-themed episodes, but I’ll take what I can get.

This is a great fun listen and I love the book recommendations! I’m a huge mystery/thriller/true crime lover and I’ve been enjoying the light discussions. The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars is because of the constant swallowing noise coming from one of the hosts. If you listen to the...Read full review »

This could easily be my favorite podcast but... Mysteries and thrillers are my jam. I look forward to this podcast more than any others. That being said, I have some issues with it. Firstly, I consider myself to be a progressive and liberal feminist BUT I find the hosts insistence on being super...Read full review »

A great addition to the ever superb BookRiot stable of podcasts. Read or Dead is insightful and the presenters are both passionate and well informed. I look forward to this dropping each fortnight.

LOVED the Nancy Drew segment! So interesting to think about how or even if we can still relate to The characters and plots. Never thought I’d be the least bit interested but I might actually do a reread.

How much do I love this podcast!? A ton! I love mysteries and true crime, and these two book lovers locate and describe so eloquently some of the best mysteries out there. They are young and hip book lover/librarians, not old and stodgy stereotypical mystery lovers, and they explore all kinds of...Read full review »

Oh boy, this podcast needs some help. The hosts are no where near a good source for mystery and thriller podcasts. Most of the book discussion involves reading from the back summary from the book. Any book news is just a run down of old news that anybody could find. You will not get any insider...Read full review »

I can't listen to this one anymore (and I love bookish podcasts). These women sound terribly unprepared and ramble on about their personal lives. Like other reviewers, I find the amazing number of "ums" and "likes" fatally distracting and irritating.Read full review »

I am a mighty big fan of the horror genre, and I feel that the majority of the books recommended on here are mostly light murder mysteries. Not entirely a bad thing, but just wish the recommendations were more diverse, even if recommending older books. Like other reviewers, the excessive amounts...Read full review »

I am sure that Katie is a lovely person, but we don’t need to hear about her personal life add nausea him. Francie is great but the other girl just goes on and on too long. I love the comprehensive information about the books but I’m not so big on the personal stuff.
Cedricsmom via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/07/18
That I’ll continue with this. I love the concept because the mystery genre is my favorite but like a lot of listeners the amount of “uhmns” start to become all of hear after a while. I also don’t feel either host sound comfortable doing this. It’s been nearly two years and I can understand first...Read full review »

Love this podcast. Highly recommend to anyone already a mystery fan or anyone just starting. If only I could read faster!
allyfromcanada via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 11/23/18
Seems like in every episode, Katie stumbles through her part of the show because she didn’t take time to prepare. But she was really quick to spoil the ending of a book in a series I happen to be reading at the time. Bye.

mysteries/thrillers are my favorite genres and this podcast delivers. I appreciate that the hosts repeat the name and author after discussing a book as often I don't get it at the beginning or have forgotten it. above is my review of over a year ago. It’s been over a year .. time to stop saying “like” over 50 times in a single review I love the recommendations - but this podcast is almost painful to listen to. I wonder if you listen back to any episodes, because, like, it’s like, time to make this like, more like Book Riots other pods.
Supersu via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 08/31/18
This podcast is so much fun. My TBR list just keeps growing and I find out about so many books I’ve never heard of.
lc1301 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 08/30/18
I only listened to one episode. The hosts were barely able to put coherent sentences together, neither finished their episode highlight book, and I’m sorry but I can read publisher descriptions of new releases on my own. Unsubscribed.
binnaperville via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 08/05/18
Please stop with um and like, um you know. Every other word that is spoken on this podcast is either um or like. Mystery/thriller is my favorite genre but this podcast is difficult to listen to due to the use of so many distractors.

I just found this almost a year of back episodes to catch up on :) I love it,. For the most part, I like this podcast. But I wish they would have a little perspective when reading things that are considered classic.
