When you know what you should be doing but can’t stick with it.
This podcast came at a great time, as I recently finished reading and doing the thought exercises in “From Fat to Thin Thinking,” and am now in my 4th week of the 30-day Practice. It has been a transformative experience for me in terms of identifying my subconscious thought patterns and modifying them to align with my goals, rather than fighting internally with myself all the time and feeling like a failure when I couldn’t stick with a weight loss program. Rita’s approach uses a combination of research-based coaching, guided meditation (with encouragement to develop your own meditation), hypnosis, and cognitive behavioral therapy to address the underlying causes for weight gain and provide effective solutions. It was a revelation to me that the way I am learning to think through this practice (“thin thinking”) is how my “lucky, naturally thin” friends and family think when tempted to overindulge. They don’t have more willpower than me or better metabolisms or natural superiority - they just have healthier thought patterns. For the first time since I started to become significantly overweight 35 years ago, I feel in control when it comes to making choices about food and exercise, and I can truly envision myself at a healthy weight, while accepting myself now and enjoying the process of getting there.

The stress level is horrible and I turn to sweets. Rita not only helps me understand why, but she...Read full review »
