How incredibly insensitive and ignorant but maybe done on purpose to interview and air this episode with Gary Lineker now . I have been a loyal listener to The Food Programme for years but why air this now , given Gary Linekers outspoken and in breach of BBC guidelines , public views over...Read full review »

Great program on bitter greens and health. So why is the BBC Food Programme hosting ads from one of the most destructive companies in the world, and the promoter of the least nutritious food in the galaxy, McDonald’s? Are sponsors for healthy food that hard to find? McDonald’s is unsustainable,...Read full review »

I love the variety of subjects discussed on this podcast, and the fascinating stories. It offers a great balance of experts and personal, relatable stories.

I’ve listened to all the episodes having found you just before COVID hit. Such a great learning resource for foodies and very entertaining too. Keep up the great work team 😀

Love listening to this podcast! I learn so much as the information is so digestible. Would you considering doing a mini series on the origins and history of certain foods? Perhaps an episode per month of a vegetable/fruit in season. Like the history of the tomato - where it came from in the...Read full review »

I love your content but here in Canada the shows are now bookended with ads for gambling. Very much not BBC!

Superbly researched program/0podcast. Diverse range of topics presented expertly by numerous people involved in past and future food supply.

My oven is heated with propane, a very expensive gas. So too, I’m currently looking for a new gas stove, costs run around $1500. new. I’ve always had a slow cooker and microwave, now I’ve added an a air fryer and a pressure cooker, all run on electricity. The monies and time spent is amazingly...Read full review »

It’s not long enough! I want the episodes to be at least twice as long - I love them! Keep it up!

Nice to listen to but could use some improvement but on the whole this is not so bad

So inspiring! So many folks taking leaps of faith to make a better world through the medium of food.

Sheila Dillon is at the helm. Sadly Dan doesn’t cut it for me. No bite and rather bland. I do hope he’s not limbering up to take over. Also the latest episode about Avocados -if I hear the presenter say ‘WOW’ one more time…

This poddy is a non stop learning journey. The more you listen (even when repeating previous episodes) the more you learn and hear new things. Highly recommend for anyone involved or interested in food in one way or another. You won’t regret it.

Jaega does not have much ability as a presenter yet. She needs more insight, more welly and more polish too. She is unable to debate issues with her interviewees and it makes for uncomfortable listening, especially as her delivery is still flat and unengaging. Hopefully she will blossom in those...Read full review »

I am a long time listener of The Food Programme but like a bag of pre-packed supermarket lettuce, it can be very hit and miss - very mixed and sometimes crisp and fresh and at other times, rather limp and tasteless. It is fair to say that they cover a really wide range of topics and presenting...Read full review »

Whether you are a passionate home cook or a lover of restaurant food; a fresh fruit aficionado or a devotee of the supermarket ready meal - there’s an episode of The Food Programme to suit your tastes. Same old BBC pushing the insane agenda. Avoid!

A dour presenting style contrasted with ramped up sound design from an audio library of the ‘bleeding obvious’. Xmas edition particularly bad for this. Cheer up & cut the tunes - we know what Christmas sounds like.

It feels like this podcast is trying to plug a low carb diet and interviewing highly controversial people such as dr Aseem Malhotra. It puts me off listening to its other podcasts even if they are not diet related.

Great podcast and I find the information relevant and insightful. Can you please stop the advert at the end for the IMC podcast? The presenters are insufferably smug and condescending.

Just attempted to listen to “Ice Cream Nation”, spent the whole time having to shuffle the volume up and down by many notches. Far too much loud music that added nothing to the content. Very disappointing.

Interesting variety of subjects. I enjoyed the topics on chefs, blue fin tuna. The interview questions are great open-ended ones. I had to skip some of the 2018 episodes because host, a British woman, tends to have this intolerable dragging vocal fry.

Listening in the car on my way to and from work the BBC Radio 4 podcast gets me thinking, smiling and feeling happy. An absolute treat of a podcast. Every episode is compelling and presented with passion but also widely varied. It has made me laugh, cry, educated me and really change the way I think about food. There are two Sheila’s that I am in love with. Sheila Dylan, the host of this great show and Sheila from Wild Wild Country. If only I had a time machine. For now, listen to The episode about Patience Grey. And another favourite is called “a fat lot of good”. Both fascinating.

Crikey, it's not easy to turn a podcast about food into a dire political diatribe but they manage it sometimes. Lighten up, we've enough misery in our lives without having to listen to sanctimonious Shiela...or the 'earnest' male presenter. That's when we can hear them...Read full review »

I’ve been a listener since I was kid: back in the days of Derek Cooper presenting it. Over the years I have learnt so much about food and cooking from The Food Programme.
